MaryJo, I missed you again on here. Are you planning on going to Blanchard Saturday?

As for Blanchard I plan to be there. My belly has a rumbling that only "nachos" can satisfy.

LOL If you ever have seen "Llamas with Hats" you will get the reference.

All this talk of breeding, buy and selling birds has really got me looking forward to spring and breeding season. I am totally stoked about my breeding program. So can not wait, still needing a couple of LF cochin roos, but still have enough birds to get started. I think I have the breeding charts figured out but may have to make some changes depending on any acquisitions I make in the next month or so.

I was wondering for all of you that garden, has anyone had luck growing carrots? When I was little my grandmother, who lived in Enid grew everything but I especially remember the carrots, which were awesome. Just have not heard of anyone else growing them here. Of course Granny had not just a green thumb, she was Mother Nature incarnate. Woman could grow anything.

Taking tomorrow off work for a mental health day. This gives me a 4 day weekend but I have to start gutting the back bathroom, asap. DD text me today and it looks like, if they do not do surgery then she will be home in about 2 1/2 months.

Well I always work best under pressure.

Heading to the room of rest, I hear two feather pillows, a heated bed and a big black cat calling my name. Hope everyone has a great night!

Well we have about an inch of snow now. They have closed school! Don't take much around here!lolLooks like a couple of cold nights ahead,in the teens.I just remembered I haven't closed the vents around the base of the house. Hope nothing freezes tonight. Wondered why the water was so cold!

Good to see Peaches back on here. Sure do miss all the old gang.

I will plant some carrots this yr, now that we have sandy soil. In the past with poor soil I could sucessfully grow enough carrots to fill my hand out of about 100 ft of carrot seed. It is all about the right soil & temp. Since they are a root crop they need soil that will allow them to freely grow. If you can hardly get your shovel in the ground then I wouldn't expect any root crop to grow. But if you have soil that is easy to turn then carrots might happen.

As a kid we would leave the carrots in the ground until we wanted them. I still remember carrot tops coming through the snow in Missouri when I was in preschool.

Wow, there were 69 unread posts and I wasn't gone that long!
Robin, Joe and Josie look quite domesticated

and the baby chick is sooooo cute! I tried moving the black Cochin bantam who was sitting on OEGB & Modern eggs to inside a building today and she decided she'd had enough of sitting. Why do they always decide they're going to sit outside in some corner anyway?
This cold weather sucks, I hate it.

Looks like lots of people are having fun with all the new things.
I still haven't found a way to change the post count to 75/page.

Actually, you can now change it to 100 per page. Click on "my profile" in the index buttons on the top of the page. When your profile comes up, there is a place at the top right that says "edit account details"

Click on the edit account details and there is a long list of things to consider. Toward the bottom of the page (several screens down on my computer) there is a place that allows you to select the number of posts per page, under "Forum preferences." I selected 100 posts, so it doesn't seem like it takes forever to read everything.

Elwood - thank you for the lesson on viewing the actual time of the post by placing your cursor above the "xyz" minutes ago" time on the top left of the post. That is handy.

On another note - this afternoon I talked to Michael D. His internet is still down, but someone is supposed to come out to repair it - again.

Hi, if I read right on the FAQ, that option is only available for paying members at this time. Pretty certain that is how it was said.

What Cowboy said, you have to be a gold or platinum member for that.

I am ready for the weekend off! Anyone got plans? I will be pushing to get the building as far along as possible since DH will have shoulder surgery next Friday. If he can get the floor in I can do alot of the rest until he is well.
