Evening Peeps! I guess everyone went outside today! I took a pen apart (getting ready for building my breeder/quad pens) Let some of the show birds out on the ground for some sunshine. DH worked on the building, it now has a floor!! Finished the day going with a buddy to put out traps, getting up early to go check them. Now I am having some nice HOT chili.

It's been a great day!!!

evening guys, been busy all day...weird weather-

what does it mean when you candle an egg and see an airsac, but the the rest is fairly clear?? or an airsac that wobbles?

any of you have tufted roman ganders? are they as mellow as the females?? this one from bill is such a gentle girl! the gander we have is really pushing his luck lately- went after the old blind dog of my MIL, so am thinking his days are numbered here

I think the Belgiums are more laid back than my OEGB...the little hens for sure are, even though the roo has got character, once you catch him he settles right down.
They're so stocky and puffy looking for little things, I really like how they look.
For getting a very late start on the day I am really enjoying it. Managed to get quite a bit accomplished in this nice weather. Treated the birds for mites, lice, fleas etc. didn't see any but better to just do it than wait for a problem. great weather like this sure makes for getting a lot done. i assume everyone is working or just enjoying the temps and great weather., I for one sure hope it sticks around.
All the birds I've gotten from you have been completely 'bugless' :) I appreciate the trouble you go through to keep up with that task.
I got a bottle of Ivomec Eprinex, it kills mites, lice, etc etc. and keeps it off them for.....I think it's a month like Frontline. For birds the size of OEGB you'd only need .25 cc, like 3 drops applied to their skin. I'll gladly get some to you because I'm never going to use all this plus I've got Frontline for them. The stuff works great, some people say it works for worms also but I like my good ole' Safeguard for worms. It would save you having to mess with dipping them.

Your wife must roll her eyes at you lol!!

Evening folks! well it was a good sale day here. Although I was disapointed in the price I got for some things, others did well. Its always ""the luck of the draw" with auctions. But it was nice to get out and see all my chicken friends and look at some birds. Also disappointed in that I didn't get to buy anything. Bid on a few but prices were high and I was to tight!lol
Biggest sellers of the day were two black spanish turkeys. The gobbler brought $55 and the hen $45. Wasn't a lot of good pure stock of really good quality except for some buff silkies. They were the best I have seen in along time and they went inthe $22-25 range(each) Rabbits were higher than usual, around $8-12 each(usually only $3-5) .Plain old barn pigeons, the omly kind there today were going for $2.50 to $4 each! they usually bring only $2. Goats were still high, pigs were high, and bottle calves were almost double what they were in early Dec. at $110-150.
My sale buddy bought a box of four hens that were nice, and beautiful golden laced wyandotte. He is getting into wyandottes and has a couple nice trios.
Sounds like your weather was nice today. It was warmer here, finally got into the fortys but it was in the teens when I left out this morning.
