if we get hit with a snow storm that will kill the peaches this year...

out to l feed and water

Oh no robin! Now I got to go out & check my trees!!!

Today we are working on getting the plastic on hoop house & I will be setting my eggs. Kids are all still sleeping, chicken auctions are exhausting! I am expecting my nephew to be awake soon, since he slept several hours at the auction.

Rebecca had a great idea - in the future we should order a few pizzas for our crew to munch on @ the auction-- maybe something we could work on in the future-- especially when they run out of food @ the auction.

Anyone have guineas laying yet?? I keep checking for eggs thinking our mild weather might get them laying early.

Going to try & drag DH out of bed so we can get to work outside (yes we are skipping church, no way am I waking those kids up, they will be grumpy monsters after not getting home until after 1).

Morning, Okies!
My brother sent a photo of the feather plate for the whizbang plucker he's making for me. I bought the plucker fingers and mailed those(he's in California). A bakery gave him an enormous plastic barrel to use as the drum, so that will have to be adapted. DB said he's hunting at swap meets and garage sales for parts. He's on a mission to make the whole thing for under $350.00. Here's the feather plate:

i have been checking on making one myself and it can be made for 350 or less if you already have a motor.. that is really the most costly part in building it..i would love to see your finished whizbang if when its finished . maybe you will have it by june and can bring it to the swap and do a demo with it...

My brother thinks he will have the plucker finished by June. He is also going to build me a scalder with the dunking shackles. I really want to have both for our June event, even if it's just to put them on display. My brother lives in California. He and his family plan to visit when school is out. He's put us on his calendar, so keep your fingers crossed.

Morning ...errr afternoon Wayne. How is your leg feeling this week after your fall...still can't get that image out of my head...boots locked together, sliding down the ladder and boots landing across the yard....ouch!

Robyn Fruit tree buds are beginning to swell here also.

another year without fruit is the pits! I'm really low on frozen fruit since the big freezer thaw this summer. Love to make fried fruit pies with peach, apricot, nectarie or apple. I do have some apples canned up. When hubby gets back from the stockyard, going to send him out with some 2 x 6 boards to lean against the sunny side of the trunks to shade the trunks. That sometimes keeps the sap from rising.

something weird about this new format, seems i have used almost all my data for this month already. this is the only web i sign onto from my phone, so evidently it is eating me alive. phone is my only internet any more other than a borrowed wifi. what i am on now].

bocked everything i can, pics, avatars, quotes, and everthing else it will let me block and it is still sucking the life out of my phone.

i will check in when i can get on my laptop or work computer for now, daughter is getting wireless next week, so i should be good then.

Afternoon Everyone!

Finally got around, the auction went so late last night and by the time I got home and everyone settled down it was almost 3 am.

Needless to say I am still a bit tired.

Did get a male turkey for my hen, a LF black cochin x maran roo. He is quite handsome even if he is a bit of a bugger. I think he will work well in my breeding program. Maybe get some olive eggers in the mix.

It was nice to hang out with so many of the BYC folks and auction friends. Got to see a couple of people I have not seen in quite a while, so it was quite fun.

Just made another batch of ricotta cheese. Once again thanks to Al!

Well better go get so work done. Been so dang lazy....

Hope everyone enjoys the day!
