***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Wayne I watched a TV show on really small houses, I am trying to think of what they were called. It was amazing what they did with the small space! You sure can't be a collector in one of those......Not sure that I could be that organized.

Yeah thats what I worry about. I am a collector of "things" and trinkets and Brenda is a collector of all things paper! Luckly the one we are looking at has some attic space for papers. Will proably still have to vae a storage building for all that stuff. But our thinking is ,as we get older maybe less will be better as that means less to clean and take care of. Sounds good on paper hope it works in theory!
Did you get the chick barn completed as much as you wanted this weekend?

The floor & the door is completed, we picked up the wood for the walls today. He plans to work on it this week after work, I plan to discourage this because he will be worn out. It can wait.

Nanakat,
No problem. When do you want me to pick him up?
edited to add Nanakat's nane - still am learnin g about poating and quoting on the new set up.

No hurry. The little guy is doing great. He has white tips on his toe feathers. Just when ever. If you want to try this week, I'm going with hubby to his early Tuesday appointment and I have a dentist apointment on Thursday. His stitches come out on Friaday afternoon and then we are clear for a week.

Nana thanks for asking,it's doing much better.soreness is about gone.
Well it was cold this morning but warmed up a little this afternoon. We went Lowes and looked at their sheds, still pondering the ideal of making a house out of one! Just tying to figure out cheaper ways to live.finally figured out thar big and fancy doesn't necessarily have to fit into our retirement years! Small habitual and easy sound pretty good!lol

Glad you are doing better. Cabin sized.

NaNa sounds like you will have a busy week comming up!Hope the weather stays nice for your travels.
Sooner what kind of wood are you using on the sides? How big of building is it? Hey thats another place to have gourd vines!lol

Have I mentioned how much I love this Faverolles boy?? He's several years old yet he accepted my Silkie boy into the yard with no complaints whatsoever, I think that's just wonderful and I love his temperament. The Faverolles boy (and the girl he came with) sleep on the floor of the coop with the Silkie boy. I have no idea why. Sometimes the Silkie will sleep on the roost with the other 4 Faverolles girls and my sweet Dark Cornish bantam girl. The roost is only 24" tall but the Fav boy is pretty hefty, I don't know if the roost is too tall for him or what? Should I lower it, do you think? Anyway, I got their picture tonight, it's so cute that they cuddle up together-and they're unrelated males who didn't grow up together, chicken dynamics are fascinating to me. The 2nd picture is the other Fav girls and my little Cornish girl on the roost.
Edit: Oh yea-and the 3 Fav girls that were biting me when I messed with them have been here a week now and I"ve gone and gotten attached to them because they fit in so well with the others. So I'm going to keep them after all.

MJ, at the bottom right hand side of every post there's buttons that say "Multi" "Quote" and "Reply" as you're going through reading the posts and find one you want to respond to just click the button that says "Multi" under it, then go on and read the rest of the posts, clicking "Multi" whenever you find one you want to respond to. Then when you've read the last post, right there at the bottom left hand side click on the "Post Reply" button. A message editor box will pop up with all the posts you've chosen to reply to. Then just sandwich your replies in under each quoted texts.
I love the multi-quote button :) If you want to make a separate reply for each post you can click on "Quote" and reply to each one individually.
The new forum is NOT iPad friendly and I imagine it's not very phone-friendly either.

Thank You!

Ksane did you know faverroles come in salmon, like yours and white, and blue, and mahogany? I think the mahognany ones would be beautiful.White might make an empressive looking bird too! Won't the silkie boy cross with your faverrole hens?

It is a metal building 12x18. We used trusses, windows, metal & all the wood for the frame that we already had so we have only had to buy the plywood for the floor & walls inside. I am thinking I will put cheap laminate on over the floor for easier clean up. It will have electric(now) & propane for heat(later). I don't think it will work for vines. I do plan to have my incubator in there, it will be so nice to have everything in one spot.

I'd LOVE to have some of the other colors. But gosh, it hasn't been easy to even find the ones I've got. If I want Faverolles eggs I'll just take the Silkie boy out for a couple weeks. Although I'd hate to do that and then have problems putting them back together. I'm not planning on breeding or selling babies, I just like to watch em' and feed em' :) The Faverolles rooster was actually eating bread from my hand today already, he's so tame.
Edit: The post combined into yours, Okla. Strange.
