Hi! I am new to the backyard chickens, but have had backyard chickens for a few years now. I live in Newcastle OK and love the americanas as well as the marans. My son, who is 8, has been wanting a Turken for a long time now. Is there anyone out there that might be able to sell me one or two? I dont have the ability to hatch, and would rather get a young chicken than a chick as we have a cat living indoors recovering from what we think was a coyote attack.

Also, I have tried PM'ing myself to see if it works, but I never get any messages - so dont think I am sending them out. Any ideas?

I also live in Newcastle and am somewhat new to BYC . I have Marans too but no Turkens . Great information on the board

Wow! I used to think my 2 siblings actually liked me until I see the way other people's siblings treat them. I don't talk to mine anymore anyway now. That is SO cool what your brother is doing for you! No way mine would've done something like that for me, no way. Not without charging me a couple thousand dollars. You're so lucky.

Jackie, I decided to keep the 3 ornery Fav girls when I didn't hear back from you. I have my pretty bearded white Silkie boy in the yard with the Fav boy and his girls right now. And while they'd make some pretty babies with lots of toes, I don't think that's what you have in mind lol If I take the Silkie boy out I'll save you eggs.Otherwise we can go in together on some eggs from Lund. I could have Carl hatch mine since he's a pro at it, and you could hatch yours.

This new board is not friendly if you have anything but the most current browser or for phones or iPads. I like using old old browsers because they're so fast. But they don't work at all with this board. Which is odd because they work with other updated boards. I've had trouble with PM's also so don't know what to tell you. But I think you'll have good luck on this board alone finding a "bare necked chicken" for your son

Hello everyone. It's been a rather eventful day around here. Some of you may remember that my son has been in some trouble at school lately. Well he was in another fight at school today. I'm at a loss on what to do with him. The fights usually aren't his fault, but today it was. Usually he is just defending himself, but today, he started it. I'm considering pulling him out of public school and homeschooling him in the evenings. Does anyone have any information on homeschooling in Oklahoma?

There's tons of info all around about it. My son is 15 and does the online high school thing. It's been a lifesaver. His problem wasn't behavioral but more because he's so quiet. He just got lost in the background because of it. Look up Advanced Academics, you'll be amazed. They get the same homework assignments, have access to teachers through chat and email and it's accredited so they get an actual diploma when they graduate. So much easier on the parent than homeschooling as you don't have to pick the curriculum yourself.
