***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello everyone, I just want to reassure everyone that that there is a plan for a Spring POOPS in the works.
I apprecaite all of the offers to help from people and as soon as we progress a little further I will let you know. I am waiting on a few people to call back.
The tenative time frame right now is for late April and somewhere around the OKC metro area.

I thought I would share a pic of my two poultry gaurdians.. they keep teh mice and wild birds at bay.. you may have to look closely but it is two red-tailed hawks that like to perch on my Brown red pen and watch for mice.. this is also a good reason why nothing freeranges here.

So do the chickens totally freak out when these guys land on their pens?

Looking forward to it, if I can I will lend a hand.

No, they just stay under them scratch around, I do have 2 hens that like to fly up and try to attack them but the hawks don't bother the birds or anything else I watch daily picking field mice and in summer small snakes, I kinda like having them around so long as they don't start causing problems but they have been here for a few years without a single incident while teh birds are penned. I did have a cockrell that bear (Steph's dog) was plucking feather's from his tail and when bear let him go, he took off running and the hawk snatched him up after making it about 75 ft.

Things are busy around here too. I can never get enough done.

i am soooo glad that it is not just me... have a young man on his way out who is working on an eagle scout project, they are wanting to build a few pens and place a small laying flock in a neighborhood in OKC. I look forward to thing like this.. It is so good to see today's youth looking at the community and giving back a bit, young men and women like that will go far in life.
