Quote: If I can ever get my fence run all the way around the place I might let my 2 little pigs run, not sure if they can dig as big a hole as those Durocs though

One thing that I like about Bermuda is that it holds sandy soil very well and is worth nearly as much as Alfalfa when put into bales. Crab makes good hay too and there are a lot of farmers around here planting crab in the Wheat fields to get a hay crop after cutting the wheat and to keep soil erosion down. Crab doesn't choke out the Wheat and it will survive a good discing.

A guy I knew said to space garden rows far enough apart to mow between. There are some things that can be planted as a living mulch. They will help modulate soil temp and also hold moisture due to their shading effect.

I try to leave enough space between rows to run the tiller then I can add compost and turn it in all season the next year I set the rows in the in-between spaces, Several years ago I had been dumping cage cleanings from mice and rats into an area and when I planted it the tomato and pepper plants were looking bad I found a handout from OSU Ext and learned that if you have sawdust you have to add 1lb of nitrogen per bushel of sawdust otherwise it robs it from the soil to decompose and starves your plants, I used a wand on a hudson sprayer and shot the area with a high nitrogen fertilizer and it wasn't long I was getting beefsteak tomatoes that were as big as cantaloupes, I would also mix a tablespoon of Epsom salts in a gallon of water and mist the pepper and tomato plants to make them put on a ton more blooms, I'm hoping I can get at least some part of a garden in this year I already know fighting the weeds is going to be a chore

Good morning~ I am sleepy & wish I could of stayed in bed longer! I had an extra day off & spent it taking my grandma to the doctor. Today it is back to work.

What kind of pigeons do you raise?

Late morning for me. Storms kept me awake, and then Conner decided he needed to go out and patrol the yard at 3:00 a.m. I don't know why he thought that was a good time. It sure seemed early to me.

I'm trimming goat hooves again today. With all the recent rain I want to be sure my does don't have any problems with their feet.

I've been reading about compost tumblers. Does anyone have experience with the oldest version, the Compos Tumbler? They're pricey, but the design looks better than the plastic barrels. With all the goat, chicken, and cow manure that's free, I figured I could motivate my garden this year with some compost that didn't come out of a bag.

Anyone else on here joining the Easter Hatch Along? There's an egg swap that's running in conjunction with the hatch along. It's a mystery swap, so you don't know what you'll get... but that's part of the Easter Surprise for me. It would be neat to see what the Okies end up with on hatch day

i will be droping you box off at the postoffice this morning

Good morning Okies. Looks like we might get a few good days of sun. I for one will enjoy what I can of it. Course 10 hour days inside my office doesn't leave alot of time to enjoy it but I will soak up what I can at lunch, lol. Gotta brag on my hubby, he finished all but two of the chicken condos yesterday. That sweet man! He has to put the roof piece on the shelter of the coop of one and it will be finished. Then the second one the shelter is pretty much finished but has to run the wire and build the door for it. He is so sweet. Wish I had today off to help him but we have 3 out sick this week in the office.

Carl I will head out that way today. Not sure if it will be my lunch hour or after work. But we will be out there at some point lol.

Well gotta get to work but hope to have a little time to check in today.

Cathie
