***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Some of those eggs are looking a little unsure about their fate

I guess I'll keep using my nondescript FRAGILE sticker and one that just says Hatching Eggs. I put the dozen eggs I marked on into the fridge. I'm hoping DH will get a giggle out of them when I send him to the fridge for quiche ingredients tonight.

if you think about it, it is amazing eggs can make it across town. of course you have to think about how many people handle them on their way across the country. one person can make 200 more look bad.

Poco, I love those eggs! I wish I could draw and I'd make faces on the blue and green eggs I save for my husband's co-workers little boy. Maybe I can find some stickers.....
Jim, I think people are too apt to blame the post office for every hatch that goes wrong with shipped eggs when they shouldn't. They're an easy scapegoat though.

yeah i know what you mean, i have freinds that work for the usps, and i wouldnt trust a couple of them with a steel ball!

. the others seem to try to be over careful with fragile items of any sort

i think a lot of the problem with shipped eggs is pressure changes, since they arent shipped in pressurized cabins, why dont they explode?

that and unscupulous sellers selling infertile or old eggs
old.gif
.

of course then you have the unscrupulous sellers that sell "showquality" eggs on ebay
rant.gif
. havent seen 1 in a while, but i am sure they will be on again as soon as it gets a little later in the season
somad.gif
. realy now," showquality" eggs?

i havent seen eggs shown in years, i dont even think anyone does it anymore.

Haha-no way! Show quality eggs? Nah, surely nobody would fall for that? lol That's a step below selling "show quality puppies" at 8 wks of age, isn't it? I don't begrudge anyone spending more than they should on eggs (I've done it), it's the idea of misleading people that just isn't right.

Well birds have been washed and dried and now ready for the BIG Show saturday , looks like great weather for this show, hope to see all that entered and if you didn't hope you come to visit and support the 4-H group. extra birds for sale , raffle table and a live bird auction for a few select pairs,

Today's Leap Day? I didn't even realize that til Monty said so. I got eggs in the mail today! 15 Dark Brahma and 13 Lavender Ameraucana. I've wanted BOTH breeds for a long time and kept putting it out of my head thinking maybe I'd quit wanting them (it's worked on other breeds!) So I guess I'll have to name the ones I keep 'hopping' names, huh? I already know one's just going to have to be 'Jumpstreet' lol Because I'm watching all the old 21 Jumpstreet shows from the 90's. NoCityBoy-about 1/2 these Dark Brahmas are yours if they hatch, ya know. Unless you back out on me

I'm hoping some of the Bantam Favs hatch Friday. I've got 4 eggs in my Little Giant here at home as a test hatch to see how this incubator does. I decided not to buy an incubator, I'll just buy a good electronic temp and humidity gauge, I figure if Bill can make his very own incubator then surely I can manage to get reliable hatches in the one I've got. And the eggs I don't want to risk I'll let Carl hatch for me.
Carl, I'll be over later this afternoon. Probably about 1:00 unless you tell me another time.

you don't have to worry about me backing out, bring those brahmas on! I'll have to post more pics so you can remember which breeds you put out of your mind.

Poco Pollo - Cute idea you have there!

Ksane - I understand about not being able to draw. I can barely draw a recognizable stick figure, much less make eggs look as cute as Poco Pollo's. Kids do like stickers though, so that is a good idea. It would surely make any child smile.
