***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks for all the tips about bedding. I will get my mini flock in larger quarters this weekend.

Are there any shows or sales near Tulsa this weekend? I'd like to just go and watch.

There is a show at the Mayes County fair barn this weekend (Pryor) It's a bantam show and will be there saturday.

Ksane - DH is from Iowa. He has adapted well to Oklahoma. First few yrs we were married he never wore a winter coat. Now I catch him putting on layers of clothes to go out when it is below 40. He always talks about how much he misses all the green grass in Iowa, even after 13 yrs of being stationed here. If we visit Iowa in the summer I have to wear a jacket at night & I am always shocked to see people swimming when it is barely 85.

There is an ad on OKC Craigslist for free ducks. 1 yr old for pets or egg laying. Not for slaughter-- I would consider, but I would be in big trouble. DH keeps saying no ducks..... He is so mean sometimes!

The Pryor show is not large, but is always a nice show. Well run and quite a few nice birds. Several of us on here will be there as well. Hope to see you there.

I always laugh because the last winter I spent in Iowa (in 81-82) was 75 below with the wind chill. I moved to OK from that and woke up the next day here and it was 72 degrees and I heard DUCKS outside. I've grown to hate the wind but everything's a trade-off and I'm too old to go back to cold all winter. I grew up in Cedar Falls, where is your DH from?

hm, couldn't find the post on craigslist

One of my black feather footed bantam's feathers are starting to curl..... any ideas what kind I might be looking at?

He went to school in Dike-- right outside Cedar Falls - Waterloo. I am planting lots of kohlrabi again this yr. lmk if you would like some. It is one of those things that reminds him of home. I started growing it because I have never seen it in a grocery store around here!
