Here ia an article about the Mad. Games

http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Games/BRKMadGame.html

And here is an excerpt from another article

Otherwise they are always very friendly to their hens or little chicks, and to humans. Often the rooster took one, two or even three of his children, under his plumage, to warm them in the colder nights there. He was leading them by daytime like the hens do. The Malagache are famous, to adopt small chicks, some times they have different ages of chicks to worry about. The rooster or brood hens are defending their family with their lifes.

Interesting article.

Hi Carl, hows the new job going. What day are my eggs do to hatch, assuming the little buggers dont come early like the last batch.

They will move to the hatcher on the 10th, so should be hatched and ready by the 12-13 th.

The new job is absolutley great, just very long days and schedule. currntly working 5 12s and an occasional 6th day each week 5 am to 5 pm so a bit of an adjustment period getting up and going at 3, out the door at 4 and home at 6. But I figure I will adjust quickly.

Thanks Les, dave buried her, but will find info out for the future- i still am leaning towards something toxic, considering the oak leaves soaked in stagnant water, also saw a ref to green algae being toxic

looks like a dreary wet day here, chilie type weather

Good morning everyone...hoping we get some good rain out of this weather pattern!

Red algae is also not good.

Sure glad you are enjoying the new job. The schedule will ease as you get used to it. We drove from Meeker to OKC for years. Driving time adds to you long day, so be safe.
Thanks for taking care of the eggs and chicks for so many of us. That takes time and dedication. It is appreciated!!!!!!

I didn't get the coop fixed up yesterday. It was my daughters birthday and we took her out for dinner. Do you think the chickens will be ok in the chicken sauna all day? I don't want want them to go stir crazy. Especially with the little ones in there. They may think it's fun to pick on the new gals. what do y'all think? I'm debating going and buying a small run since its really icky out and I don't want to try and go out in it and rig something up.
