***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Gorgeous day outside...taking a water break and will go back out to plant squash.

Caught a baby cottontail before I ran over it with the string weed wacker....fully furred and about 5 inches long. set it in a grassy patch in the shade. Weeding one of the raised beds, found the burrow already vacated. She was a sneakly little mom...the dogs never checked that bed even though they were obviously checking things out in the garden over the past sever weeks.

Out outdoor kitty brought us a present of a headless one last week.

Dropped it in the laudry room.

after using it, i don't think i'd hesitate to order more, course now it has favorolle bantams in it... besides the ones the broody is hatching- we'll see what is the better rate- but i lost a little black one and another made it to hatch and didn't make it- and one of my ee eggs than i don't know how close he is...

here are the little buggers... even the ee seems to be doing ok

Nana, how exciting! You've waited sooo long for them!

Love the girls being home from school today. We planted in the garden, then went for icecream & did our regular chores. I once again had a horrible experience with our zero turn! The blades stopped & won't engage! The belt isn't broken thinking I completely killed the pto. Either that or the safety feature under the seat may have broke. Every time I touch that thing something appears to go wrong with it! I an certain I am operating it correctly, just seems to save the mishaps for me.
My grasshoppers are back in full swing. Hundreds of them were going everywhere when I mowed. Oldest DD put some semi spore out & hopefully it will help soon.
My sisters kids will be here later. Going to offer them 5c for every grasshopper they catch, going to stick them in the freezer for bird treats. May have to go get a roll of nickels, since my nephew that is in kindergarten will want to see 5c for each grasshopper. He will think he earned more than his sister that way too!

there should be some fuses under the seat, check them. to test the seat switch unplug it and jumper the connector with a paper clip. There should be a wiring harness that goes through the body of the mower down to the electric clutch on the crankshaft check the connector on it and check for that harness for rubbing against something

Kass the clear pkg with the bla ck seeds is the vinnig okra. The nightshade is datura, can be posinous,I have had it around the birds and they don't bother it. Its not a vine but will grow into a shrub up to 3x3 in one season from seed. Here it comes back from roots and also from dropped seeds. It is absoutely beautiful, blooms late evening and all night and may stay out on cloudy days but bloom dries quickly up in sun.Huge trumpet shaped white blooms, can you tell I love this plant!lol

Busy day here. went to feed store first and they had new chicks so I got five! Then came home and mowed and weedeated, then washed and vacuumed the truck and did the daily feeding chores. Have two more hens wanting to set,of course I took all my saved up eggs to the hatcher guy yesterday! Got enough today to set one and am trying to get some mottled houdan eggs shipped in quickly, they are not far off so should have them by monday.

Got two fruit trees in the ground today. 3 down, 4 to go, gotta happen tomorrow.

I think it's another girl guinea chasing the blue girl off. Just a hunch. Watched them for a while this evening, thought maybe she was melding back in since they were all in the barn together, then another blue (I think all three blues are girls) came off the roost she went right after the one who took her distance from the rest again. humph.....

Robin, those babies are adorable :) That 1st one looks exactly like my Lavender Ameraucanas.
Wayne, I saw chicks at 2 feed stores today and wasn't even tempted, I couldn't believe it. I've never bought chicks at a feed store before. Most of them were RIR's and Red Stars, a few Cornish Rocks. Don't the Cornish Rocks die young even if you don't eat them?

Is Datura also known as Jimson Weed? My Grandmother also called it Moon Flower because it bloomed at night. She took me out to the garden on night to show me the blooms and sang a song from the 20's "I see the moon, the moon sees me" This was a long time ago and my memory is .........
