***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Any ideas on the color of this chick? MIL was told they were ameraucanas when she bought them. I am leaning toward pretty EE mix. I have two similar. This one and one that has more dove grey color mixed in. These are close to 7 wks old now. How do I tell the sex on this breed type. I am so used to opingtons and australorps!

I am at a loss with chicks she has been buying for me. LOL Sorry about the fence in the second pic. I also have one that is a light soft grey with darker barring.
Someone on the Ameraucana thread said you can sex EE's by their color, she said they talk about it on the EE thread. I have an EE hen the exact same color as that one so I'm going to say girl haha!

I have signed permissions slips from the momma cats, and the photographs were for identification purposes only.

You must be thinking about legislation that governs photographing domestic cats. The Sphynx cat, which is hairless, can never be photographed without scandal.
That is wrong in so many ways that can't even begin to be counted. I want to unsee this picture

That is TOO Funny!! But, I'm thinking the more scandalous aspect is the provocative pose rather than the unclad condition of this poor creature LOL

roflmao!!! Somebody needs to warn him, he can't control himself without help lol

looking at weather reports, am trying not to think i need to move all the chickens in! as it is i bave my bantam favs in the studio and the cochins kids in the spare tub, so i don't know where i'd put the others! sheesh!

first time they saw popcorn, they were sure it would hop up and eat them!

but if there is a broody, she'll show what popcorn is for!!
What kind is that 1st picture? They look like Cochin mixes and I so love Cochin mixes.
Those are the Bantam Favs in the 2nd picture? Oh how adorable!

Storms seemed to be done in my parts for the night. We made out with a little bit of hail, lots of wind & rain. Dont think it was too bad, but won't know for sure until the sun comes up.
The German Shepard DH brought home is 100% a house dog. She didn't even give the baby chicks a second glance & is in DD room asleep on the trundle bed. Not sure she is the type of farm dog we need! The boys are outside chasing varmints & barking up a storm while she is happily sleeping the night away.
Storms are suppose to be worse tomorrow night, if so our time at the auction may be short & sweet. I hate driving in the pouring rain. Bad enough I can hardly see in the dark, add pouring rain & then I just hope my van knows the way home.
Maybe you got lucky with her!

I had to share this pic. This is what my arm looked like after shooting 100 rounds through my 870 shotgun during range qualification. The bruise got much worse over the next couple of days going all the way around my arm. I learned that holding a shotgun in the wrong way is a SELF correcting problem!!

Dang! My husband would be impressed. His measure of a woman is how well she can shoot haha!

Poco, that plucker is a work of art! Your brother made that for you?? Wow, you've got way nicer siblings than mine.
You guys, I don't know what to hatch. I got my Eco 20 incubator (got a turning cradle, too) and I have aaaallllll these eggs saved up. I was saving some for me and also for someone else that I never did meet up with, so now I have way too many eggs and don't know which ones to set. I want LF Faverolles so bad but I'm too scared of getting males. How do you all sell males????? The auction? I wish I knew someone who'd take them even if they were going to end up processing them. But now I'm too scared to set any at all for fear of getting males. This is ridiculous.
I guess I better read up on the weather. Is it supposed to be bad tonight? Are they still planning the Blanchard auction? Christina, I've got that purple guinea for you. If Blanchard is cancelled I'm going to be asking you if you want it, Laura lol

OUCH!! Brings back the very painful memory of the first time I fired my dad's big single shot shotgun (A loong time ago now LOL). Dad was retired military and a shooting instructor for JROTC at the time. Well he told me to make sure I had it tight to my shoulder but I did not listen. Dad wisely let me figure it out on my own.

After he picked me up off the ground and pounded my back for a minute or so I "self corrected" real fast! I have never made that mistake again in my life!

Thank you Ksane. On my way over to check out the EE and Ameraucana threads!

I am keeping a watch on the weather. I really wanted to go to the Blanchard auction this evening to meet some of you guys! Oh well, if it looks too bad I guess there is always next week at Newcastle.

Okay trying some garden and such pics from today -

Ducks enjoying the day

Coop door with little guys running everywhere

a good view of most of the main flower garden

Yes it really is that dark - I love the dark ones..

This pic does not do this one justice

Everybody Out playing in the yard.

Some more...

One of the newer splash - got to love these.

The deep colors on this one are just stunning in person

My coop - dont laugh but I did it 100% myself... wife says it shows!

I got 2 Silkied Seramas from Deanne/UpCDayze (if I spelled that right) a month ago. The girl was supposed to be mine and the boy is one my grown daughter picked out. They were both so lonesome apart that they've been kept together. My daughter has claimed them both now. They're just beautiful. These are about the prettiest colored Seramas I've ever seen, I think. (Don't let Channing hear me say that).

too many open at once - this one may not make the cut this year.

Love this one - sharp in the garden. and dont look at that weed behind the iris - it is not there!

Love the toned ones like this one.

Pink is dull here - better in person

weather beaten - sorry

Good wine color

sharp contrast - good bloom a keeper

So this is my garden - got the pic thing figured out - also my birds... I know there is room for more! I have 3 turkeys, 6 ducks, 2 geese, and about 25 chickens - and dont forget the 2 quail.

My coop - dont laugh but I did it 100% myself... wife says it shows!

That's a fine coop! I would be proud to be one of your chickens! They have shelter, they have a fence, they have food. Us wives just like to give you guys a hard time. What I bet she appreciates is how much you care about the chickens :)
