Since you all have one of the most active threads on BYC can you all help me?
The Easter Hatch has a cutest chic pics contest.
Will you all go vote for the one you think is cutest-----> HERE?
super sweet....
We are looking for some little turkeys... a silkie or two and some chicks or chickens the girls can show at banty shows.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again...
Johnorem, you sound like my dad. He had a quadruple bypass at 52 (my age) and stents and pacemakers and everything else. He was 73 when he died 18 mo ago so he made it a good while. It was copd from heart disease that he died from.
Nana, those test results are scary. Something I fear every day of my life. Be very thankful you have insurance. I'm sorry about Bitsy. She was so pretty and with the Cochin in her I know she was as sweet as she was pretty.
Robin, the broodys are going to sit whether they have eggs or not. The difference is if you take the eggs you won't end up with a ton of babies lol I always take their eggs and walk them outside and tell them to get some fresh air. After about 3 wks or so they finally quit sitting. I think they're programmed to sit for 21 days or something, sure seems like it.
Cathie, that is *exactly why I hate advertizing on Craigslist. I hate talking on the phone as it is and to waste 30 min and then they don't show up anyway sucks.
These 3 Spitzhaubens I got at Newcastle a few wks ago still aren't doing good. They've got something wrong with them but I don't know what. At 1st they ate real well and gorged themselves. Now they just pick at it and are still bone-thin, just skeletons. I'm sure it's something along the lines of salmonella or e coli (I used Sulmet for 6 days in case of coccidia). Something that takes them out slow and makes them waste away. That's exactly what e coli does and I only know that from the outbreak we had last year of it.
One of my husband's 6 debeaked red stars we got at Mary's Swap last year died. He just loves those girls. The way her stomach was swelled up right before she died my guess would be internal laying. They weren't young chickens but they're sure sweet.
testing testing 1 2 3. any here, is this thing on? heeeelllllllooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
wooo hoooo! i think it is working!!!!!
for the moment.
The rooster met DD again today when she got off the bus. She gave him some leftover spaghetti noodles & he was happy. I am scared the other birds are going to catch on & we will have a whole flock of chickens welcoming the girls each day. Good thing there is only a few wks left of school.
The birds spent the day sunbathing while I worked in the yard. I will say those fly bags we hung around the barn are becoming NASTY! But I don't find flies everywhere, so they are doing there job.
Got a letter that porter hill is having a general merchandise auction Friday night then birds on Saturday. We use to have several good auctions around Lawton but they all have left. Maybe this will turn into a good misc auction. Just not sure they have enough space to consign much.
If you do number 7 is my chick.![]()
If you have thanks a lot!!!
Morning Everyone!![]()
I have had 8 chicks hatch since Sunday and looks like around 10 more going to hatch any time now. Will try to post pics cause they are so darn cute. Looks like a bunch of splash.
