***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Nanakat, that is an adorable baby cochin! Does it need a new home??????

Well, I'd better get back to the weedeater. This week is my gardening and yardwork catch up week.
That baby belongs to Ksane...I don't think she wants to art with it.

I was playing catchup in the garden also. Since we didn't get the rain, I've been watering for two days and potted up dahlias and some cannas I had ordered. The flowerbeds need working over before I can put those tubers in the ground so they had to be potted. Trays of hosta are beging to be planted out. I did get Bills varigated cane planted today. I will let it grow in a raised bed for now until I'm ready to set it in permanent locations. Thinking of putting some along the west side of the teen pen to offer some shade...along with the sunflowers that are there this year.

The blue with the squiggly lines on its head looks like a pied coral blue. Should be pretty!
Betsy I hatched 4 of those in this hatch. I only got 3 coral blues all last season! It can't be coral blue, why would my birds have held out on me so much last yr? I thought coral blue when I first saw it but then thought no way since there are 4 of them. Wonder how many more will hatch in the upcoming weeks.

Mitzi if you keep it up we may have to do a chicken intervention.

Such a cutie!!! And a great photo: He looks embarrassed you took his picture while he was eatting.
My first set of hens when we moved out to the farm included a LF SL Cochin hen we called Lacy. She was the sweetest hen and would fly up to the top of the roost for me to pet her and give her treats. Then she would cluck and tell me about her day as I tended to the chores in the hen house..

I mentioned the critter attack on my GP Baby. Here she is at the vet the day of the attack.
This weekend I went to Texas and picked up some reinforcements.

They might look scruffy and small, but that is 240 pounds of muscle and bone between the two of them. And they are still pups, born March of last year. Raised on pasture their whole lives, and they work it like pros.
And they like to collect stickers, apparently. :)
Baby got backup!
rofl! I hope they work out well for you.
aint no way i am gettin tween that heifer and some chickens!

I have a hard time parting with the big Cochins if they were born here. Ask Muesky :) Although I did come to realize the one I gave her will be just fine at her place.

Awful brave for a man that was too scared to say it to my face at POOPS the other day lol!

only reason i didnt say it the other day was i hadnt thought of it yet.

sure glad you didnt read a few more posts, i would realy been in trouble!

Hi all. I'm a newbie on the site located in Tulsa. I've been in and out of this site before but have never posted. Everyone seems really nice and I would like to introduce myself with a small issue I have at the moment.

This year is our first backyard flock. Everything has been great and we are enjoying all of our birds. We have two EE's, two BR's and four straight run golden laced polish. The issue is that out of the four Polish, we got three boys. My urgency is to find them a home before they really start crowing. Being that we are in the city limits, unfortunately we can only have the girls around.

We purchased these fellas for ten $ each, and that is all I would ask for each one, or if someone has golden laced hens that would be willing to trade, that would be suitable too. The largest roo of the three is a real looker and the other two are just starting to have their crests fill in well.

If you have any other suggestions, or if you are interested, lemmie know. Thank you in advance to everyone. I'll post some pics as soon as I get them uploaded.

James

Mine is going to enhance my "Tucker can't eat any more of my chickens" fence.

Hi, question on the Blanchard sale.....is this the closest sale to Pauls Valley?
I'm looking for a good place to sell some nice birds.
What time do chickens sell and what time do I need to be there to sell?
Saturday right?

Any opinions on this sale? Hope this OK to ask

I have some extra Silkie roos that need to go, some of different colors and Paints too.
Possibly a hen or two .

Thanks for the info

I've been working in the flower beds today, well this past week I have noticed a building aphid problem on my pecan trees. I've been mulling over what I plan to do about it. Appearantly "mother nature" has it all under control, b/c one of the large beds I was working in today is very near one of the trees w/ a problem, and in all the mulch and leaf litter in the beds is a huge gathering army of lady bugs. They are tiny right now, but they have impressive numbers!!!!! Woo Hoo.

Guess my custard break is over for now.

Call Jerry (405) 812-7552 let him know what you are bringing & he will get you a lot number. That way your birds can get a good spot in the lineup now. Who knows what time chickens will sell. The past few times they have tried to start eggs by 530 then chicks & big birds. Egg sales & chicks are slowing down I would GUESS birds should start by 8-- possibly sooner depends on how much eggs & chicks there are. Prices depend on the crowd but silkies seem to always bring good money, if you bring them you must keep them in a covered cage so my daughter doesn't see them. We do not need any silkies! Newcastle sale is the following wk if you can't make Blanchard. It ends earlier than the Blanchard sale but will still be close to 8 before birds start & consignment starts @ 12 they don't assign early lot numbers like Blanchard does. Does that make sense?
