***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi Carah, I did kinda over do it yesterday and I have rested most of today and do feel some better, we had to get the pens done yesterday so we could get chicks out of the brooders, started with 105 chicks, have 90 left I think, we did get them moved and they are doing fine. Thank you for your concern, I am glad I got the Internet back at home so I can jump on when I want, love going to the library but it was costing a lot in gas even when I had eggs to deliver, speaking of eggs, I am getting over run with eggs right now, how is everyone dealing with their overload of eggs, my final option here is to feed them to the pigs, but first I try to keep them rotated out as I sell them, not letting any get over two weeks old in the fridge that I sell, we eat most of the dirty eggs and cracked ones, any other ideas out there???? Lynn

Lynn when I get over loaded with eggs or have a chance to buy them cheap at an auction, I boil them, throw them in the food processer and give them to the chickens. Great protein for the chicks, and after awhile they get where they really like them. Take it easy, this heat getting higher and higher. Hoed some in the garden yesterday and tried to mow some this morning. Hurt so bad right now hard to get out of chair. Pain meds and air conditioner. That is how my afternoon is going.

I've been cleaning the dubia colony and am seriously rethinking putting them in a super colony in an adjusted freezer, I think a large aquarium is all I want to clean in one day! I'm thinking a couple of medium to large aquariums would do better at least for me.
Kass, I have a 45 gal aquarium that's 36"x18" and 17" tall or a 55 g (48"x12"x21" tall). The 55 g has scratches on the glass because I got it used and it was old when I got it, but it would work perfect for Dubia. You can have either or both of them, I'll just give them to you. Neither of them leak. I could bring one or both to the get-together in a month.

Ksane if Kassaundra doesn't want the aquariums I would gladly pay you something for both of them, just let me know, thanks, Lynn

I was wondering if i could use my incubator as a yogurt maker. It sure doesn't work well for hatching chicks.

I have a yogurt maker. You need to add the plain yogurt or starter between 110-115F (ideally is 112F). The temperature for the incubation of the yogurt bacteria is in that range. At 120F you will kill it, at 90F is inactive. Good luck with your experiment.
