***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My DH never asks how many. He just tells everyone that he works to feed my animals; says we get a feed truck delivering twice a week now and not to encourage me! He does exaggerate just a bit!!! At any rate, as long as he isn't asking, I don't have to try to teach him chicken math......

Can anyone tell me what kind of chick this is? I bought her at Atwoods the other day. I was checking out the chicks (can't help myself) and had decided to pick up a few more bantams. She was in the bantam brooder, but since she is tagged, I'm guessing she was supposed to be in the assorted pullet group and ended up in the wrong one. I just thought she was too pretty to leave behind, but I have no idea what breed she might be. So, I am for help from someone who knows chickens better than I do (that might not take a whole lot of knowing, though!). Thanks!

dose any one know where a gal can find two hen and 1 roo light brahma? Really like these birds and wanting to add them to my collection. As for the roo i got at poops (the fella was given to me think hes a red star and sexlink mix. He is doing fantastic! Loves are flocks of hens he has moved in with. The dear has been named chillie. he is not aggressive with hens nor some of my younger chicks that sneek into his side of the run. He fallows me round the yard like a lil puppy dog. thank you so much he has been a joy to add to our flock.

Morning all! Hopefully I can catch up on all the posts. It has been a crazy busy week for us between work, kids and birds. Plus we are getting ready for fireworks season to begin. It is time to get the travel trailer and 5th wheel out and cleaned up so we can live in them for 3 weeks. Hope everyone is well and enjoying this weather. It is so nice outside I plan on going for a walk on my lunch.

Love the pictures of the chicks BB those are adorable. Sorry I can't help with what kind they are. I do good to figure out who everyone is in the hatcher and those are from our own eggs, lol.

Morning all!
As I made my rounds this AM I saw my NN courting my rose comb RIR hen. Wondered if they would produce a rose comb NN???

Enjoy the nice cool morning. Think the afternoon is suppose to be hot without a breeze.

this is chillie hanging with his ladies
Love his white tail feathers!!
Just read the Norman Transcript and saw that the council is discussing allowing chickens in residential (R-1) areas in town. Finally! I'm so hoping our council members don't get bogged down and see the benefits that healthy chickens can provide urban families. Send your council member a message if you are Norman!

You will have to post pictures if they produce! That might tip my scale over to NN

What do the feet look like? are they feathered? Could be a mottled variety..CUTE!
Alexis helped me move some chicks around & she said 2 jumped out before she closed the door. The girl had me searching all over the barn with a flashlight for about an hour. I asked her to count & make sure the chick really was missing. She said she counted. Finally I counted -- no missing chick. I had been searching for a blue game that was already where it belonged. Now I am cooling off for a bit then we will be back to chores.
Some birds know how to use space morph/teleport like on the USS Enterprise.

Hi Carah, I did kinda over do it yesterday and I have rested most of today and do feel some better, we had to get the pens done yesterday so we could get chicks out of the brooders, started with 105 chicks, have 90 left I think, we did get them moved and they are doing fine. Thank you for your concern, I am glad I got the Internet back at home so I can jump on when I want, love going to the library but it was costing a lot in gas even when I had eggs to deliver, speaking of eggs, I am getting over run with eggs right now, how is everyone dealing with their overload of eggs, my final option here is to feed them to the pigs, but first I try to keep them rotated out as I sell them, not letting any get over two weeks old in the fridge that I sell, we eat most of the dirty eggs and cracked ones, any other ideas out there???? Lynn

Why not pickle some....
Quote: Oh, I can slow down a little if you still need to get some work done.....
Quote: I just use one of those soft side ice bags and put as many jars of hot water in for the jars of yogurt, zip it and leave it for 12 hours. The yogurt cultures and sets just fine.

Weedwacking some around the equipment so I can mow with the finish mower on the tractor....some of the lot is looking a little snakey and hubby saw a skunk walk to the back of the barn yesterday.
Planted some annuals and elephant ear in pots for the shady part of the yard and deck.
Moved Annabelle and Carmen, the white cochins, out of quarantine today into a yard pen. They covorted like chicks in the tall grass...I think Carmen even tried to fly...at least she jumped off the ground a few times.

Taking a break and loving the pictures of babies. Gotta get back at it. Too much to do while the boys are cutting hay. May have to drive the truck pulling the hay trailer when the hay is ready to move out of the field.

A couple of pics from yesterday, then I need to go do some work!!!! lol

I have several girls to develop this swept back feather doo. I love it.

This is noisy cheeks, the most neurotic chicken we have, she really needs some lithium!

and of course can't forget the chickie doos
