***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Just caught up, my talpatalk is still not working & my internet is not happy with the rain. Made it out to the garden today, the green beans, squash & peppers are screaming to be picked. If it dries up later we have a few hours of garden work waiting for us. So far this wk we had 70+ guineas hatch and a few mystery chicks from eggs DD collected at Mikes place. Bfrancis your eggs go on lock down today, I am sure DD will be thrilled to watch them hatch.

Cathie, I am sure those eggs were pure RIR eggs, same as the last ones you bought. Your inucbator must just magically trasform them since it has happened twice now. We don't have our RIR seperated right now or I would be happy to get you some eggs or chicks. As cheap as chicks are going at the auction, some RIR chicks may be the easiest way to go.

Nana, for the love of God-I think you're the energizer bunny in blonde :-O How do you run and do and can and take care of critters and cook and visit and do all the things you do??

mitzi, your fav boy is beautiful! mine are still at the straggly stage-
Lucky is an EE mix, hatched about the first week of march- very sweet guy, if he is a he, but he doesn't hold the tail high like the other roos at his age
Lucky's only 3 months old? I'd have to sit on Wayne's bench in saying it's a boy, too. You've got something in the water to get so many boys lol!
That picture is an LF Fav boy. I know I need to find a home for either him or my adult Fav boy and it's killing me.

UGH I am going to be insane, I talked to a nice gentleman at a local auction 3 weeks ago. He swore he raised RIR and Barred Rock and he had 4 dozen hatching eggs of each. Soooo we bid on them, got them cheap enough so got 2 dozen of each. He just went on and on how his birds are all kept seperate and he marks the eggs as he pulls them from the pens, yada, yada, yada. Well 3 weeks later my hatch has started. I had no choice but to open the hatcher this morning this little guy was running loose in the bottom. Guess he somehow got out of the tray he hatched in. So opened it quickly and the only egg hatched is a RIR. Well I am no expert but I am going out on a limb here and saying this isn't no RIR, he is blue and has feather legs and feathers on 2 toes on each foot. He is cute and I have no idea what he is (taking guesses if anyone knows) but he isn't the RIR I thought I was going to get. I sure hope this one is a fluke and I get my RIR and BR or I will be giving up till fall.

Cathie, that chick is adorable! I think he'll stay blue. It does look like a pea comb (which is a dominant gene) so an EE/Ameraucana mixed with Cochin is very possible. I've been wanting so badly to hatch out some eggs from my huge blue Cochin boy and the 2 EE/Ameraucanas he's with, One hen is solid Blue and one is solid Black. Seeing that chick is doing nothing for my willpower. But I'm soooo scared of getting boys :-(

That must be it! Hmmmm Carl didn't mention that function when we bought his old incubator (not from him but from someone he sold it to) maybe it was added after he sold it.

MJ if Jack remembers who he bought those eggs from I could tell him for sure. I know I will be asking the sweet man at auction if I get to attend about it. It isn't that I mind more cute chicks but we are to the point i really have room for what I plan on using for fall. Then of course we added SLWs, CWs, forgot I would need a Guinea grow out pen, FBCMs, then realized so I can get my own RIRs and BRs I need pens for mating those so I don't go through this again! The little roo we got from you is getting so big. I can't wait for him to be old enough to breed. I have one RIR hen although she is a production red she will do. I am just going to hatch eggs from her and him and build a flock from there of RIRs. I really want to be done with chicks by July 1.

Argh, looks like I'm going with the LS-50, since I can get it for $30 vs $60 for denagard. Unless someone knows where I can get either of them locally? By the time it gets shipped here I'm sure the turkey in question will probably be dead, so part of me thinks why bother...... grrrr....

Laura, the Denagard is $60 total and that includes shipping. LS-50 is going to be right about the same price after shipping. It'll only take like 2 days to get to you, really. Livestock companies are great about shipping super fast. In the meantime for $13 you can go get some Tylan 50 at Tractor Supply and that's going to clear it up. If it's MG they don't usually die from it, very seldom. But what happens is it opens up their systems to e coli or some other virus, that's what kills them. Course we don't know for sure that's what it is.
My turkey's were tame like lap dogs, duh-it hadn't occurred to me that other turkey's aren't like that. I can't imagine having to inject a turkey with a needle that's not tame :-O
People use Tylan 50 orally also. They give them double the amount down their throat. I tasted it though because I didn't want to give something to the birds that tasted really bad-and it's really bad. Course you could add sugar to it and it'd taste better, then just give orally.

QCSupply.com is where I ordered our bottle from. It is like $44.95 and then shipping. You can use code "5OFF" to get $5 off an order of $40 or more. Shipping was $10 so for $50 you can get the Denegard. Ours got to us amazingly fast, just a few days.

what a friend of mine did is give tylan till the dragard came in, it only took 3 days for the duragard from QC, priority is their standard shipping $10, but if someone close by has some while yours comes in- wish you could order it in smaller bottles
