***OKIES in the BYC III ***

When you say "strut" what do you mean? "He" has become attached to a new chicken that does not fit in with my other birds. At times "he" will sit down in front of her an she will pick threw his feathers, an "HE" puffs up with "His" tail feathers out "struting" around her. . . . . Does that make "him" a him???

sure does 99.9% anyway. i seen weirder things, lol

Been working in the garden this morning removing some potted trees and bushes that rooted into the ground thru their pots...whew! One elm tree is over 10 feet tall and has a trunk 3 inches in diameter. It is going to be transplanted to make shade for the chickens.

Got to do some moving around to get the floor babies some outside time.
And the two geese are beginning to respond to their Brewer's yeast and are gaining a little weight. Can't believe that 8 weeks in a dog crate in a child's room didn't kill them. They were mal-nourished and emaciated when I got them. They should be fully feathered at this age, but both still have a lot of down. They had never been in deep water for bathing and had not been out on grass either. They are truly loving both.

Taking a walk on the grass...Ninya and BaBie

You can see Ninya's brace she is wearing to help with a slipped tendon. She actually has Perosis from lack of niacin and B vitamins. Once we get the tendon tighter, we will begin with hobbles to pull the hocks in closer to her body. I'm having to really watch the brace tape to make sure it isn't making her foot swell.

I have lots of garden work to do, but am home from work not feeling well. The most I will get done today and it may take me all day is some harvesting. My brother brought me over a couple of gallons of fresh cow milk (he has a family member that gives it to him and they won't use it b/c it is not pasturized) so I'm going to make a batch of yogurt and custard and some butter from the cream.

Nana those poor geese! I was reading last night they are awesome to use as weeders in the garden. I know you have raised beds but I am sure they can find a place to attach the weeds.
