***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We need to be very careful what we post about the animal cruelty situation.
I saw the story about it on one OKC news station.
To be clear only one of the men that runs the auction is involved and I am not sure if he is the principle owner, a partner or what.
So before we jump the gun and ignite a firestorm, lets see what all comes from the initial report.
There are innocent people involved in the auction that aren't involved in this case and they don't to need to be vilified.
I will try to find out more information because like I said, I only saw the short report last night.
Well said Buckguy spoke like a True Leader .. We should all be verry thankful for all the peep that take the time to put on a sale an or swap meet for us to go to i no for a fact ther is no money to be made at all in haveing one..You have to love bird's an peep an put up with all the down side,,A guy was gripeing to me that his bird's did not bring wat he wonted an he was taking thim to another sale like it was the peep at the sale's falt...I have herd that a hundred time's ,,,

WOW! You guys have been busy today. I went to work and when I got home went straight to work on the new coop I am building. I am worn out but it is coming along nicely. I think it is going to look pretty good for my first coop. I didn't have any plans either other than my jumbled thoughts, LOL. I should have been taking pics along the way but I will take some when I finish. Just haven't had the time.

I will definitely try the A-frame next since I now have plans for that. Hope you all had a good day today.

I just hope everything works itself out, whatever it is. Good people run that auction.

Question:

To separate her or keep her where she is?

1st time broody...been in the same place for 2 weeks solid so she is happy there. She has made her nest on the ground behind one of the nest boxes in between that at a pallet in the coop with the other hens. They don't seem to be bothering her. Will they hurt her babies? Will moving her cause her to quit sitting? Will moving her cause huge problems with the pecking order?

If this was a hen @ my place one of two things would happen if I left her in the chosen spot. 1-- snake will eat the eggs 2-- snake will eat the chicks Sorry! You may have a safer place than I do. I have a silkie hen that is capable of whooping any other chicken that comes near her babies, but she doesn't stand a chance against a snake. For a long time I had pics turned off, but kept feeling like I was missing out. I have learned that seeing pics of other peoples birds makes you desire birds that you didn't even know you needed! So does auctions.

Well I don't have a snake problem here. Haven't ever seen one here honestly and not sure they could get in with the way I have things secured.

Here is a pic of todays garden haul, the green beans aren't in the pic and the squash and cukes are just represented b/c there were to many to fit in the pic. a couple 5 gal buckets of cukes and a 5 gall bucket of squash.

the odd things in it are the red okra in the front, right behind them are white and purple eggplant, the red just to the rt of the eggplant are little caribean hot peppers, and the brownish orange to the far rt are poona cukes.
