***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Poco glad you had a good time, have you ever made a photo book through shutterfly??? It is an awesome gift not to expensive and really easy. I think all the photo sites have a way to do it, but I've only done it through shutterfly.

Love the dog tag on the shell idea, and glad he's home safe and sound.

Pretty birds Joe. My hooda's are starting to get thier top knots.

BBAcres, Pheobe's a girl. The boy I've got from that hatch has a huge red comb already.
Diesel's going to be a huge boy! GreyBear23 has his Blue brother. He was a big boy for his age, too. Heck, the 2 girls I've got from that hatch are also.

Oakieridge (aka Ms Bionic), that's a lot of work you're doing on top of the fireworks stand and half a dozen kids....just saying I think you need another Mother's Day to rest up :)

We've finally got everyone in their own yards and no eggs in the incubator. What a relief. We decided that since we're caught up with the whole yard vs chicken population we're not ever going to go through playing catch-up after the fact again, that sucked. All weekend we've been out in this heat in the hot sun finishing up yards. I can't believe how many posts my husband has set and hasn't complained a single bit! Before I even set eggs in the incubator again I'm fencing a yard and building a coop 1st. I worry too much about them having a place to live for me to keep to the "Birds 1st, Yard 2nd" rule. Too much stress for my tiny mind.
Joe! OMG that Blue Laced Cochin baby is beautiful! Will you be selling eggs from those parents? Rhino beetles are too cool. People keep them as pets, you know.

Buster, I bet those chunky Cornish crosses would lay like a bunch of walrus under shade and a mister lol But look at the money you've got in them, ya gotta do what ya gotta do to protect your investment.

MacGuyver, I guess chicken people are just gluttons for punishment, The heat today under the sun was brutal and it sounds like a lot of us were out in it.

OKRaceFan, I just got a really pretty Brown Red LF Cochin boy and his Brown Red girl. I love this color!

Robin, I'm so glad the Fav babies like their jug of ice :) Last summer when it was so so hot I kept a bunch of them in the freezer and changed them out. I don't think I could take temps like we had last year.

I keep an eye on Craigslist for anyone giving away old trampolines only problem is I live too far out most times to make a trip if they aren't willing to hold it till I get there but I would like to acquire a couple more for pens.
Come on over I have one you can have.. Complete Trampoline with cover. I will even help in the final dissassembly to get it in your truck..

anything over 80 is hot to me... i really hope its not gonna be a 3 digit summer! i really wanted to get some coops done before the heat hit, but it snuck up on me....

what happened to everybody that was here a month or so ago? there was always something going on here, now it is very slow.
use dto be a lot of people haveing fun and tons of good info, now not so much of either.
I just noticed from your old posts that you're a good friend of Mefordz. A lot of his friends have been showing up here the past week since he got mad and left.
Hope he's feeling better.

Hiya Buster, my next door neighbor gave me a couple of old trampoline covers and one frame the material has made a great shade cover for one of my pens I was thinking about adding some height to the frame and making a round pen for young birds, it could be moved easy enough and has a built in cover as long as the chickens didn't start jumping on it LOL I suppose one wouldn't have to raise it but I have issues with crawling into low spaces,
I have misters in one pen only cause it's out in the open (most of my place is wooded) I rarely use it cause it made such a muddy area it did keep the temp down but kept everything too wet, I keep an eye on Craigslist for anyone giving away old trampolines only problem is I live too far out most times to make a trip if they aren't willing to hold it till I get there but I would like to acquire a couple more for pens.
Hey Elwood why not get some suckerod or pvc pipe and use that Trampoline circle for the outside frame of a dome pen!!! You could use the tramp cover for part of the roof for shade and wire or tin around the bottom. JMO!!! Lynn

Talked with him last week he is doing good and may hop in on occasion if there is something worthwhile to add. He is in good sprirts and not mad at anyone just a lot of stuff to do on his end daily.
Not too far off from where I am with things anymore, I will say what needs to be said if it will help someone out but otherwise will likely sit in the background and say little if anything as I find I may offend folks by calling it for what it is. I am a stickler for the standard and raise my birds for other reasons than most on here but find that many habits I have in care translate well for everyones practices with parasite and disease control.
For the more serious show going types I will see you all this fall at the shows we can chat it up all day there.
