***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hope everyone is having a great day!
He sounds just like my youngest when he was little. The adults just need to talk to him in the right way and he'd have plenty to say. He's just precious, I wouldn't get anything done all day long with him around, I'd just hug him all day. Now keep in mind you'd have to take him back when he turned 13 lol! That chicken does look like he's laughing at a joke your son just told him like someone else said haha!

Letting the girls out of the Eggmobile early in the morning. My favorite time of the day.
This is how I like to see my chickens.
They just keep coming for days out of that door, don't they?? Maybe after I've had chickens for a few yrs I can get the hang of not getting individually attached to each one. That pond is so pretty!

Happy Saturday Everybody!

Well the between getting a late start, epic heat wave and the grasshoppers, I have lost everything but my watermelons....so for grins I planted some cantaloupe seeds in a container and now they have a guardian! :)

July 20

Well I didn't think I'd be able to say it today. But there's still 30 mins left, so GOOD MORNING!

My whole family slept in today. Felt great!

I'm loving all the pics of the kids & chickens

. My chickens won't let my kids get close to them. I have been able to get my RIR to trust me enough to pet her tho. I'm hoping my next batch of chicks will be a bit more social.

LOL @Reagor since you and I are both in Tulsa area we REALLY need to get our daughters together- I cannot tell you how many times she wanders out in the yard to catch chickens in her dress up clothes!  :lau   They could work TOGETHER to catch more of them at once- I'm imagining they could each hold three at least! :weee  Here chicky chicky chicky!

That would be awesome! The only bad that could come from that is tired girls and exhausted chickens! I would be fine with that. Haha.

Well we went to Guy Rose Auction, not much up there today, there were a few guineas, roosters and very few hens, a couple rabbits and some cages, the deal of the day was a cage, nest box, and 4 cocktiels went for $25 and they were handing out watermelons for $1.50 each, had about 20 of them, highest went for $3, tomatoes and okra was cheap, too hot, we left early. Thanks. It is a mere mud hole compared to what it should be this time of year. And it is less longevity than quantity that keeps me from getting too attached to individuals. :)

That, and I go out of my way to keep from getting attached. I do love to watch them in the morning, though. Sometimes I just sit and watch them,

I bought 7 young game hens last weekend, got them home and all setup for their 2 day in house detetion before turning them out free ranging. I noticed out of the 7 one smaller pullet was getting cornered up and pecked on. She was getting worked over by the ones she came home with. My other chickens didn't mess with her. So my wife got her out of the coop and moved her to my shop, then we noticed she has raspy breathing, and almost what sound like a coughing she does every few seconds. After 2 days in the shop I decided to let her back in with the rest of the chickens this morning that were out in the yard, she went straight to the coop and got in, But I still notice the hard raspy breathing. What could this be ?

Most likely one of the many chronic respiratory diseases chickens get. Birds are carriers once they get over them. It'll most likely pass all through your flock at this point. When they get stressed or sick from something else they'll break out again with the respiratory signs. You can give Tylan 50 injections, 1/2 cc for about 5 day in their left breast muscle. But keep in mind it'll be a constant battle.
