***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Cathie, I'm so jealous! ALONE in a motel room with nothing around for miles?? Sounds like Heaven to me. Except for the fact I'd be worrying about the dogs, and the chickens, and the fish at home. I love the quiet anonymous feel of motels. You need a tablet PC or laptop with 3 G access for times like that. Our wifi is down AGAIN so I had to add data to my iPad once again.
Oh if I were alone it wouldn't be as big of a deal. I am with a coworker here and she turns in at 5:30 or 6 each night. Drives me insane!!!! So then I have to find something to do besides sit in the quiet of the room. She says the TV gives her seizure headaches (the flashing of the picture changing) she wears sunglasses inside because of some visual thing she says she has and well the guy on the plan coming up here "sat to close" so now her shoulder aches @@. I would be in heaven if I had known we were so cut off from everything here. I could have brought my cross stiching or books to read. I didn't because I thought we would be busy either in conference or sight seeing. I brought my nook but once it died it wouldn't charge again and no way to get to a store to buy a new one. The shops here are crazy expensive and the food in the hotel is not horrible but I paid $15 for a ceaser salad last night! I am to used to Oklahoma lol!!! Next time I plan on renting a car.

I remember my mama made a squirrel into stew once when I was young. Far as I remember it was good. I'm curious why you mentioned the squirrels though?

Sorry, after reading, I got you mixed up with Oakridge I think, someone mentioned Squirrels eating their pears!!! Sorry, I am gettin old and forgetful!! LOL Lynn

We are home from market & everything is put away. DH is driving home from Dallas now. He bought me a used comercial greenhouse. It is 30ft x 96ft & 12ft high in the center!! It came with a heater & 3 fans. It was disassembled 2 yrs ago so we still need to get LOTS of bolts & new plastic. I honestly plan on using it as a hoop house for now so I will not be hooking any power up to the house. Took him 3 hours to load everything up with 2 other guys helping.
Think we will actually break it into 2 - 48ft houses, that way I can use one for seedlings & winter stuff & the other can have a light filtering plastic to grow tomatoes in.
Buster we may not take the break I hoped for. They are concerned about the avaliblity of produce since the heat is cooking stuff as fast as the grasshoppers are eating it. Told Angie we will be there as long as we have something to bring. I just can't promise how much more we will have. The heat is really slowing things down. The sqaush bugs have devoured our squash & zuchinni & are moving over to our cucumbers now, we were one of the few that still have cucumbers. You know it is bad when you can't find zuchinni @ the farmers market!

Cathie there are TONS of buses around Orlando. What about asking to jump on a neighboring hotels shuttle. They prob wouldn't mind if you tip them well. We always drive. I have to be limitted by what we can carry on a plane in our suitcase. Plus the way my luck is at airports I can drive almost as fast as I can fly. If you go to downtown Disney eat a sandwich @ earls for me. The place is always packed but it is yummy & one of the cheaper places to eat downtown. Also there is a nice bath stuff store for girls gifts & a disny store where nothing is over $5 or $10 (sorry I forget) but much cheaper Disney stuff there. Think it is by poohs corner. It is easy to miss. I could give you a list of all our favorite places to eat, but I know you are stranded! How awful!

Speaking of heart stuff...

Happy Death Day to me!!

9 years ago today, my heart stopped and I was clinically dead for an indeterminate amount of time while on a camping trip. It stopped twice more that day before I was stabilized. Every day since that has been a gift. Life is good.

Haven't gone camping since. :)
Sounds more like happy resurection day.

First, congrats on the great score! It has been a good week for both of us in that regard. You can really do the farmers market thing, now, and be one of those folks who gets a really early start. If the weather continues like has, a hoop house may be all you need.

We picked up most of our new processing equipment today, but the fun part really is picking this lady's brain. She was processing birds for the OK Co-op from the beginning, till the USDA shut her down. A real wealth of information.

Anyone looking for runner ducks? Jack is taking some nice ones to Blanchard tonight. - 3 pair, two extra drakes and a couple young ones. There is a beautiful blue drake, a blue and white drake , a black and white drake and some tan and white hens.

Buster I am sure this greenhouse will keep us BUSY! I am thinking I may apply for the diversification grant to outfit the greenhouse with all the extras. Awesome that you were able to meet with someone who has already worked with the dept of Ag. Hopefully you will be able to meet all the requirements.
