Eight. We've lost Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee. Baker, T., Davison, Baker, C., McCoy, McGann, Eccleston, Tennant and Smith are all still with us.
Ours has a green roof and faces solar south with an overhang to block the sun in the summer so it doesn't heat up. They did a real good job with the design. The people who remodeled it before we bought it carpeted it all though. *facepalm* As soon as I have money I want to rip that stuff out, polish and stain the concrete.
I took my little buff bantam Cochin pair over to the swap meet today and let Michael D sell them for me. I heard a little child bought them. Hopefully they'll have a good life. I'm pretty sure they're going to grow up really cute. I think
Started the day early @ the market, sold out WAY fast, but easy to do when you don't have very much! I came home to nap while kids are at the water park with DH. When he takes them to the Water Park he actually gets in the water with them. They always complain about it, but I know they actually do enjoy it. Plus they get to make some good memories with dad. The downside (at least the girls think) is they don't get the chance to talk to boys when dad is with them.
I need to get to the chicken auction sometime soon. Feel like I am missing out! But only so many hours in the day & can't seem to find time for it all. Bill I can't imagine the police searching for something as small as an ipad even if the house was in order.
Erin, farming (or market gardening) has in no way contributed to our income this yr, but it has allowed me to get lots of new garden toys! I have seen the income potential is there, but of course start up cost are always high. I think I can safely say we have at least broken even, and may see a profit in the fall if the garden produces well in Sept & Oct. Both of my girls get all the money from the items they planted & pick, and all the egg money goes to the feed bill, so I don't figure those in my "profit". I don't care how good your math is, there is no money in eggs. We sell our eggs because our chickens produce them, currently selling at $3.50 a dz. I promise a tomato plant will make you more money than a chicken ever will. If you had access to fruit trees or berries those sell really well. My hope is that when DH retires in 4.5 yrs he will agree to work only at the farm. If I continue to work on market gardening I am certain the farm will supplement his retirement income. I love living & working here & so does DH. Hopefully we can stay on track to meet our retirement goals!!!
You can always start small, and work your way up. Check out the plasticulture grant, Oklahoma dept of ag site has the info, I don't think your income should be an issue. There is a guy I have been following for a few yrs, he post regularly on GardenWeb and does an amazing market garden while being a full time teacher. He doesn't update his blog often, but does post some good stuff there http://highfarming.blogspot.com/ He has spoken at a few conferences & has really good DIY high tunnels that he is always happy to share info on. He even lays plastic mulch by hand. Amazing what he does with 4 kids along his side & on a very small budget.

Finally a day to spend working outside. Started the day out with someone buying 15 roos. That paid for 2 bags of feed, lol. Then had to run to Shawnee for feed. It was crazy busy there and their computers were down. But got our feed and got home to move birds around. I now have an empty a-frame and an empty pen. I still have a huge pen left of birds to sell. We let about 2 dozen guineas loose today. So it is a little wild out in the yard with the new ones running loose, lol. I have missed going to the auctions to catch up on the byc gossip but I am kind of enjoying a day at home after all our travels.
We got great news in Omaha with Nathanael. While his WBC is still very low and his some of his liver numbers are really high, his spleen is actually not as enlarged as it was this time last year! Plus he can go off the Pediasure for 3 months and see how his weight and growth go without it.
Now I am off to try and read the last few pages of posts, I am looking forward to no traveling for a while. I love it every now and then but these last few weeks have been crazy for me. I have been gone the last 3 weeks more than I have been home.

how old are your guineas that you let loose?
They are between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 months old. They aren't quiet as big as the adults but big enough to fly to roost at night and we have been letting them out a few days so they know how to forage for bugs and goodies we put out for them during the day.

Which store in Shawnee did you use: S&S Feed or Shawnee Farm?
