Just a ninja post to tell everyone hi. Took today off after a marathon session last night, 23.5 hours getting a new truck ready to go this weekend.

My boss said he would like to have about 5 more of them soon since he finally has someone in the shop that will be sure they are taken care of, probably one of the best compliments that I have ever recieved.

Oh, I'm sorry! For some reason I thought you got yours from Boggy Bottoms. Where on earth did I get that idea?? No, it's Boggy Bottoms who has Phoenix, unless I confused them with someone else, too lol!

Oh, yes, you are correct, I ordered eggs from Boggy Bottoms. He does mention Phoenix on the d'Anvers thread once in a while. Out of 36 eggs we had 26 hatch. I ended up with 6 cockerels and 5 pullets that made it thru the heat and the growth stages. Most are Porcelain (3) , Mille Fleurs (5). a Buff Columbian pair and a Black undecided sex. They certainly have loads of personality. The cockerels fly to the top of the barn to crow and free range all over the property. These little boogers can run faster than anything around....but always come to the coop whern called.

The boys should be home soon. They took a load of calves to OKC stockyards. I've been down with a head ache for two days now. May be allergies but feels like a migraine. Haven't had one of those in years. Sure enjoy sitting on the deck in the sunshine hiding behind dark glasses and jwatching the cows and calves in the pasture...nice Sunday.

We went out to the Coweta auction on Friday. I haven't been feeling well so we only stayed maybe 45 minutes. We aren't in need of any birds, I just like to go walk around and see what's out there.

Robin, congratulations, can't wait to get the magazine!

We had a neighborhood block party in our backyard last night and had around 55 people here. Boy, the chickens were all the talk! Everyone loved our coop and watching our girls. We are in a neighborhood that is mostly retired people and I'm glad to know we aren't going to have any issues with having chickens.

Loved the video of the egg, that was really cool to watch! As always the pics of all the birds are great!

Oh Robyn, I am sorry about your little Ruth. It is hard to loose them, I never realized how much personality chickens had until we started raising them.

Banjojoe, I was hoping those sweet birds came from your place. Kurt is thrilled with them. He has already kicked the little Duccle wanna be's (AKA EE pullets) out of the A-frame with his little Duccle roo and getting it moved to fresh grass so in another week he can add his 3 new girls. I should have bought all the little porcelin ones. Really ready regretting not buying all the little banty cochin pullets. I didn't realize how many Kurt needed for his little roos. I can't stand to see a little roo without his own flock. At least the ones we plan on keeping, dinner roos don't get a flock they just get to free range 24/7 lol. Did the little lavender orpingtons come from you as well? I need a few more pullets so trying to keep my eyes open for some. I don't want the two little boys fighting over girls. Of course I could move one to my laying hen pen when the time comes. By then I will have moved my BA roo back to his breeding pen.

Well birds are all fed, watered and most are out free ranging so now I need to go dig out my serger and get busy. I am making simple diaper wipes for my great neice. She uses cloth diapers and hates disposable wipes because sometimes she misses them when putting diapers in the wash and they make a mess in the dryer. Hopefully the serger plays nice, lol.

Today was the chickie doos first outdoor outing and first live food, they loved it. They have had access to grit since coming out of the incubator, I have always given them (all my chicks) a dirt floor in thier brooder box.

Here's what we've been doing this weekend.


First layer of our clay bread oven is done and drying in the sun. It'll never be mistaken as from somewhere else with this beautiful Oklahoma red clay in it! Lol.
I can hardly wait to bake something in it. My son was home for the weekend and kept mentioning all the things that would taste great cooked in it ... chicken pesto pizza, sourdough bread bowls, eggplant and onion pizza (yeah, I know it sounds strange but we love it). My mouth was drooling.

Here's a pic of our new meaties swarming their fermented feed in the brooder.

And I see our little americana snuck in there for the pic too. My daughter immediately claimed it as hers and named it Applegate if it's a girl and Archie if it's a boy. However, we told her it's name was Stew if it was a boy - as in chicken stew - because we didn't need any more roosters so she's gone solely to calling it Applegate.
