***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well evening folks, we have had some nice needed rain the last couple days and hope for more in next few days, This weather seems to get to my bones worse than it used to. But I have been out some, spent most of the day at my mom's today and had lunch with her and picked up some Christmas lights to put on my chicken pens so my wife can see better in the mornings while doing chores! And to add light to the layers in the morning to hopefully keep their egg production up. Also found a picture today i am thinking of having made into Christmas cards for the family and friends this year, I'll post it below and get yalls opinion! Think I'll have put inside "From our flock to yours Merry Christmas and Happy New years to all!" Have a great evening!!! Lynn

love it elbert!
and now for your morning warning! yep, broody fever strikes again.... only i am taking the eggs, wrong time of year to be raising the darlings...:)

That's hilarious! I've got 2 Bantam Faverolles girls sitting now, too. I take their eggs every day and while they don't bite or peck me they stay all puffed up in little chicken balls when I set them down on the ground. Then they're MAD all over and go attacking the other chickens in their pen lol!

Kathrynn,
If you or Roger would like I have a few geothermal heat pumps that could be installed in the shop area to keep the work area and birds either warmer or cooler. I think I currently have 6 that have hot water generators as well. Just call if you would like to discuss.

hello Mr. Jarvis, nice to see ya on here.

Was just at Atwoods in Shawnee...They have guineas, ducks, gold wyandotte, partridge cochins, red shouldered Shamohoko(?), Australorp, Red and Black sex link, SLW, and an assortment of bantams. They did have pullets in some of these varieties. There were others too...... Must have gotten in a big order for the weekend.

I have a hen, buff orpington, who went broody about 3 weeks ago. I've tried moving her every time I go outside and it hasn't done any good at all. I had a little free time today so I made up a cage to keep her in for a few days until I can get her broken from being broody.

The "anti brooder cage" is two feet wide by almost 4 feet long. She is NOT happy about being in there but I had to do something to snap her out of this. I figure I'll put her back in the coop at night and if she back on the nest in the morning I'll put her in the "ABC". If she goes out in the yard I'll leave her to roam. I hope I'm doing this right......

Sdsknifeworks I vote you go get 3 or 4 chicks from atwoods. Go quick before they sell out!! That poor hen NEEDS some babies!!

Lots of thunder out, wondering how far away the rain is. New meds I started this wk have curved my pain greatly. Make me feel a tad tipsy at times, hope it all balances out & I can get back to normal!

Hello everyone!
It has been so long since I have been on that I almost forgot how to find the thread. How are all of you and your birds? I am working most Saturday nights so i dodn't get to talk much "Chicken", except for Jack and sometimes Elie Mae.
