I have a cukoo marans boy with feather legs, I have two saved back for breeding next year and won't need both. We could meet at I-40 and Mcloud rd or on Sunday I will be at I-40 and Choctaw rd. They were hatched this AprilDoes anyone living in central Okla. (around the I-40 corridor) have a Barred Rock, Ameraucana, Welsummer, Cuckoo Marans, Dominique, or Buff Orpington LF Cockerel/Roo that they are willing to part with? I lost my big boy last night to a freak accident and the only other cockerel I have was hatched last month. I would like one that is between 18-30 weeks old so he will be around the same size as my big girls (24wks old).
Haha I counted the other day (I know that is dangerous!) we had 40 guineas running loose (well now 43 I let out 3 juvies that were in a grow out pen) and 14 in the big guinea pen for breeding next year. I think I probably should have sold a few of the big ones when I had the chance. We also have 3 in the outside brooder (2 more whites and a lavender).Freetobeme you will make lots of friends who will offer you more roosters than you can imagine if you don't watch out! I counted 6 extra Roos in one pen the other day. I know we have more at the barn.
As far as guineas we stopped hatching early July & have rehomed any that DD didn't want. I haven't sexed out the ones we kept yet. For all I know we could have 3dz boys & 1 loud mouth girl.
Thankful for the nice weather today. Went out & talked with the goats for a while. The buck is getting frisky & he rubbed his scent all over me. Had to come in & shower right away. Imagine I will need to wash my clothes on the sanitize cycle. Taron has been gathering things to build a larger goat play ground. She has big ideas & gets so frustrated when I try to explain how something will need more reinforcement or how they will knock it over. Hopefully DH & her can work together & create something wonderful for the goats to jump & play on.
Elbert? I've decided to blame this one you
No worries
13 of the 15 guinea eggs hatched (other two were duds) and are now safely in the brooder! Note to self, forget incubating, just stick them under a guinea!
Bill - I'll get pics of the pigs this weekend. I'm hoping Chris will get their new pen done and I can avoid posting a pic of them in their embarassingly small enclosure![]()
Haha well I am glad one of your boys got a great home! : )Haha, you guys-I beat you to the lady wanting a cockerel lol She'll have her pick now.
Quote: I meant she'd have her pick between all of us and our extra boys lol If she wants one of the others then more power to her![]()
Elbert? I've decided to blame this one youAfter seeing your girl's picture this morning and thinking about OEGB for my young Ameraucana boys I got to looking around. I found 3 OEGB girls & *5 Golden Sebright girls all the same age as my Ameraucana boys! (Did I mention they're GIRLS??) The OEGB's are a Silver Duckwing & 2 Quail colored ones.![]()
Then the frosting on the cake is she had *5* Spitzhaubens who are only 4-5 mo old-4 pullets and a cockerel. I fell over, I tell yaEver since I decided against the adult Spitzhaubens last spring I've been kicking myself. I'd gotten too concerned over that illness some of them supposedly carry and couldn't get solid information out of anyone so didn't get them. These guys will get their own yard and we're getting them their own 8x8 portable building for a coop. I've wanted them too bad for too long.![]()
So I guess I'll thank you also, Elbert. If not for your picture of the day.......I wouldn't have ALL the girls I need for my boys plus my gorgeous Spitz's![]()
ETA: Oh yea-and she hatches every bird she owns on her place, not a single one comes from outside sources because of disease.
