Carl put the chickens up for me last night and I gotta tell you for someone who took a flashlight so he could see what he was doing he didnt do a very good job. Got up this morning and my black stars were stuck in the door way trying to get out and the little ones were all outside but maybe 5 off them. He doesnt get to put the chickens up anymore.

Oh no. Mine are easy to put up, Except for Mutt and Jeff. For some reason Mutt has decided to roost on the back porch, has been for a couple weeks now. Then last night Jeff has decided he needs to be with Mutt. Them 2 I swear you do not see one with out the other.

Yep they have about 6 or 7 gals they take care of during the day. I know its not right but they hang together. It really is funny to watch them, Mutt is usually the one on point. Then Jeff will go on guard while Mutt eats.

Carl wouldnt shut up about that incubator last night. He said " Baby I could do it". I told him I knew he could but we need to scale back, no need for a walk-in fridge and where in the world would I get 10,000 eggs. He said I dont know but it would be fun.

I got silkies that day from Carla also, mine are different sizes, I also wasn't giving vit., since starting vit, they are all growing faster. One of the white ones and the partridge are smaller than the rest.

checking in this morning, how is everyone? wel, the little puddin silkie is still with us, head up, bright eyed and complaining about having to take vitamins! What a relief!

sooner- wonder if it is just a silkie thing??? keep us posted on how they grow

off to feed everyone and get coffee, catch ya all later!

The water was really cold but my little girl wanted to ski, she is still new at it so I have to get in the water with her to help her get up then she is good. Since it was so cold she only tried a couple of times so when she was done I skied once, I have a bum knee right now so that was more than enough, it is all swollen & stiff since then.

Sounds like someone who has been asked to wash the good china after a holiday meal. If you break a few pieces, you don't get asked to help again.

Robin do you have them outside yet? Or where they are getting natural sunlight? That will stunt growth too. Mine are still under alight but I take them out everyday.

Getting 3,000 eggs would be the first challenge. Trying to brood all the hatched chicks would be the MAJOR challenge. Of course, if you were hatching out that many chicks you would probably want to become a hatchery and then you would get to know the folks at the post office quite well, as you delivered boxes and boxes of chicks for shipping each week.
