I have come to the conclusion that a determined broody hen will spread her wings out flat and stretch out like a sheet of flat paper in order to cover all the eggs she has decided to brood. It is a wonder to me that they are able to walk after spending 3 weeks all spread out like that. Just think about how our back would hurt if we maintained an awkward position like that for several hours, let alone weeks.

I had a pretty good hatch. Out of 32 of Carla's eggs, I got 24 chicks, 1 had to be culled, it's intestines were out of it's body, 4 never made it out of the eggs, didn't investigate the 4 that had no signs on them. I think that is an awesome hatch from mailed eggs. Looking forward to the rest of the eggs I got from her hatching!
I had 12 eggs I got off of ebay and 7 hatched, so not too bad there. They were all cuckoo maran. Although I have 2 silver looking chicks in with all of them, so not sure if they are blue or will be roosters?

Good morning everyone.
Necie I love the mushroom pictures. One day I am gonna come up for a tour.

I think we need to have roll call.
There are several regulars that haven't been on in awhile So if anyone is just lurking out there, please check in.

Stimpy, Don, Teach, Charlie, where are you guys? BethinOklahoma,
Oceanseve, you guys check in if possible.
I am here and physically accounted for. Mentally, well not so much.

Good morning. Got all my critter chores done early, before the heat sets in. Just a loving it. We went to moms yesterday mowed and fixed the pool filter, shocked all the unwanted critters in there. Gotta get up there today to start the floor sweeper. Hey Steph them strappin young lads of your got anything to do. That net full of leaves needs strong arms to pick it up.

Stimpy, candled a few of your eggs, the ones I did are looking good. Maybe one of the 4 is looking a little clear, will know more next week. We are on day 11 now.

Marybeth,
I don't know if I ever responded about the bag of DE. If not, I am sorry I thought I did. I am gonna hold off right now until I get the chicken house in shape. Thanks.
I will take the other offer though. Is it still ok to bring the barrels over for Cuban to pick up when she comes up for the class? I hate that I am gonna miss seeing everyone but I will be at Falls Creek all that week.
Shaping the minds (and hearts) of America's youth you know.
I still have to figure out a plan to make it as easy as possible for my wife to feed and water all the birds.
She is willing but won't like it. I just ask her "Would you rather take care of 200 chickens or 100 teenagers for a week?

Oh goodness Monty, Id pick the chickens for sure. Love kids to death but to old now to take on 100 for a week. Gosh that sure does bring back memories, Falls Creek. We always went the last week of July. HOT!!!!!!!!!

Tina, Maybe we can meet up this evening. My son has an afternoon Dr.'s appopintment so I will be tied up this afternoon.
Good that you are helping your mom get things done. We had our pool in shape much earlier this year. It is usually well into June before it is ready.

We were going at the end of July but we changed cabins and now go in June. The last two times we went in July was during the heat wave a few years back. It was over 105 every day and some days hit110. That was when services were still outside now the new tabernacle is air conditioned.

Oh Monty... I envy you! I went to Falls Creek one year... I loved it. It was amazing. I love the youth....they are so funny. Such drama..... I loved to hear all those kids singing in Tabernacle.... It was awesome.

Neecy - That is gorgeous !!!!! Don't guess there's anything
you can do to a mushroom that wouldn't still be good !

How's hubby doing with his back? Chasing baseball and being
down in your back wouldn't be a good combination. And,
imagine it keeps you busy watching after everybody in this
heat, too. Take care.

Have a good one !
