Teacher man,
If you are just going for egg color and not looks the cross them over some bantam barred rocks or dark RI Red bantams.
Have you mastered the art of Artificial Inseminationating on chickens yet?

Before doing the A I make sure you have a license. We wouldn't want you to get a ticket for impersonating an inseminator.

I knew I had seen something about this, so went back and
checked. I'm clueless, Bill used to go up there, but I have
never been. I'll go check their website and see if it says
anything about........."we're not taking anything else".....and
try to find out if it applies to poultry, or just all the other stuff
in the lot. Might be worth a phone call if you are planning to
take stuff in tomorrow morning.

Have a good one !

They are still taking poultry & guns.

Why wait. if she is biting, set the hook.

I keep telling ya'll I am in serious trouble with DH, he hasn't even started on the coops, I just bought 120' of chain link fence with all the poles & gate to make another pen and haven't even got a good start on the one we are working on.

She has her hamburgs from you and that will be just fine until I can get some grown up some to put together. They are looking great by the way. They are in with my pretty silkies from Carla!

I don't think that would get me anywhere! He is somewhat happy that I at least got them all out of the house an put the incubator away. Shhhhhh don't tell him about the broody in the hen house.

When I read the post from Monty about needing a caretaker for a few days, I thought to myself "I can do that!" and then I read your post and almost choked while laughing.

Teach and Monty - consider me the caregiver for whatever it is that ya'll are going to swap. Of course, I don't know when you are leaving for camp Monty - so give me a call

I think TEach only wants four dozen roosters.
Actually two or three.
I'll call you a little later.

Why do you need some Monty Marans?

Actually I just hatched 40 some assorted marans and have some of Carla's eggs in the incubators. What else do you have? There were some birds mentioned and since I am restricted and Teach is the closest to coming my way... I was thinking I might try to bribe him...

My whole chicken population was somewhat decimated due to 2 cattle dogs and a bird dog. Then the raccoon decided to visit. We have remedied the problems and I am rebuilding. I have what used to be a dog kennel, 10'x20' with 20' runs off of each side. It still has the dog boxes which make great brooder boxes and we are covering the runs with tin. One side is complete and the other still just has a wire top. My chicks that are bigger and my bantams are on one side and the few laying hens and roosters plus a few muscovy ducks are on the other side. So I am NOT downsizing. Since I have been pregnant my husband has been very tolerant of my chicken addiction. I have also taken full advantage as well.
