Sooner - Sorry, I'm with Al....you're NUTS !!!.......LOL

Al, Pepper......what can I say?......Curiosity killed the cat.....
or the Cornish?......We just had to try it!.....Gees, that was
"good" !!!!!

Monty - Projects??? - Most "normal" people have "fish" in
an aquairum in their livingroom...."normal".... We have two
of those big clear plastic boxes that the chicks go in when they
come out of the incubator....lights and all.....and we sit here and
watch them. Project???..... We have a 3 week old black OEGB
chick that is still in the livingroom....and "it" is still smaller than
some of the day olds that we just put in the box. We're thinking
this little "it" must be a dwarf or something. "It" eats, drinks,
runs around, and seems to be totally healthy. So, guess when
we stop incubating eggs and put the big boxes out on the
porch, Na-Na will go to town and buy a parakeet cage or
something and keep "it" for the BYC Record Books.......LOL

Have a good one !

The first sentence of the article said that "Organic food has no nutritional or health benefits over conventionally produced food". I figure that means that with normal washing, the "chemical crap which contributes to illness" is removed. Making the commercially produced food as healthy as organically produced.

So you reckon nothing is absorbed through the skins of fruits and vegies as they grow, or drawn up through their root systems after it is washed into the soil?

For that matter, we're all gonna die of something. You have my word on that. And being organically raised doesn't give you any assurance that the food hasn't absorbed anything thru its skin or roots. They can't even agree on what constitutes 'organic'.

I figure that this study is as accurate and truthful as any of the others.

This was waiting for me when I got home today, the hen had disapeared a while ago and I figgured that she was sitting a nest.

Dad is the boy in the top two picks and is actually about 3/4 NN and 1/4 Malay. Mom is a Phoenix.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. Just reading all of the replies made me cry. It is a hard time for all of us. My uncle LOVED poultry. He'd hatch 200 quail eggs at a time, and had phesants, chukars, chickens, basicly a little bit of everything.

The people in their area have already started raising money for them. They've set up a memorial fund, and they are having a cattle auction just for my aunt and cousin. There are truely wonderful people out there, and I'm so glad to see that so many of them are right here on this board.

ke_ben - My uncle was the preacher a the Methodist church in Cement for a while. My dad's side of the family is actually from Cement, that's where everyone is right now. Grandma lives just a couple miles north of the town. So I'm planning to make a visit to the auction tomorrow, even if it's just for a minute. I think you're right, a little chicken therapy is what I need. Remind me again where you are from...? Your info says Nevada. *ha*

Good morning Okies,
Looks like the weather will be pleasant today with some of you getting some rain.
I am working the honey table at the Noble farmer's market this morning. Since I am there when it opens, I can buy my cantelopes and tomatoes before they sell out.

If it is nice this afternoon I think that grandson Jaxon and I will put some seeds in the garden and see if we can at least get some turnips, beets, cucumbers and squash this fall.

Your first post made me cry. Sometimes the sovereignty of Gos is more than we care to deal with....But then I read your later posts and it really puts it into perspective . What a great community your aunt and uncle had...What a gift to see when people reach out to help each other or to be a part of it. Your uncle would probably have been the first to attest to the glory of God in the valley as well as on the mountaintop. We love ya, girl.

That's true. But I'd just as soon put it off as long as I can, while ingesting as little poison into my body as possible.

Besides, fresh organic just plain tastes better than that cardboard stuff they sell at the grocery store that has been shipped 2,000 miles.

Good Morning all :

Woke up to a small rain shower and now the sky is clear and the sun is out and all feels well. Hope to see a few of ya'll at Cement tonight.

Morning all. They came home yesterday. Baby is sooooooooooo tiny.
Had beautiful weather for my niece's wedding last night. So very glad that is over with. Now on to the fun with the family reunion, playing volley ball, swimming in the pool. What is sooooooooooooo great about that part is I DO NOT have to cook. Homeland chicken all the way. Yes I will get asked ...............is this from your chickens with a look of disgust that it might be. I will be like, how do you think your chicken you buy from the store comes. They all ate the pork that Carl and Lynn butchered a few weeks ago, never once did they ask anything about it. Except yum this is good. City folks............

My corn is almost ready to pick, 5 rows of about 40 stalks each. ALL MINE. Too bad its not ready for the family.

Dang their bad luck.
