Well nothing in the trap this morning. Something nicked hte dead silkie right out wihtout setting of the trap. So I got clever and rebated it with another corpse and used a couple sticks to keep the bait pushed to the very back where anything should have to step on the trip plate to get to it. But at least I didnt lose any chickens last nite.
Wife did see a fox in the yard yesterday, we was watching a movie and a hen was cackling and she looked out the door and there it was. I seen this guy once before about a year ago and now i guess he is back. Cant set leg traps because of the cats, not sure a live trap will outfox a fox.

Had another 9 chicks hatch out
. Gave all of this weeks hatch to one hen,she now has 13.And most are golden neck d'occles and golden laced cochin cross. Hopefully I can get enough to get my golden neck project going. I have three pure hens but am having to breed back to get a roo.
Ronnie ,around this area the peacocks go for from $75-$175. These are ones with very long tails.

Lol. Dw is taking Mil to Dr. thisafternoon. Mil is already throwing a fit. She says she will not see anyone but her Dr. ! I said "Oh Yeah!"

have canning to do this weekend...and DH has a honey do list that he has been putting off and of course i keep adding to it and now its gotten bigger and well y'all know how that goes LOL!!! oh well whatcha gonna do??

I am alive still! About got my rrom done at school...Promise Keepers in Boulder was fun...caught some trout...
Be nice to the snakes! I got a new one! Pretty little salmon Boa! Also picked a rattler up off the road last night...I put it in the freezer.

Mornin all,
My turkeys are free range. As a matter a fact most all my birds are free range except for my banties and young chicks. I have one turkey that leads the guineas around. I have a lone duck that leads or runs with the other turkeys. I have 8 right now and wanting 8 more. So anyone with poults for sale, I will be looking for some in September at POOPS. I am wanting the blue slate and the Royal Palm.
I am also looking for about 20 pullets need some new layers. I dont care what kind really just not white birds, to easy prey and no RIR, them are evil critters and wont lay for me. Also want from Poops, hatching eggs. I am going to turn the incubator back on the end of September and build up a stock of layers for spring.
Rebecca you know who yonder is, we usually see him and his wife at all the auctions. He was also at the NPIP testing renewing his.
The plan for the weekend is to get some older chicks moved to the hoop houses and make room for the younger chicks. I also need to figure out which cochins I am keeping and the some that I am selling are already spoken for and then sell the rest. Red, Mottled and black.

All this talk about our various County Fairs got me to thinking,
especially about our Junior POOPS members. I know most
will be going on before our POOPS meet. I"ll volunteer to
keep a list of our young'uns and their accomplishments, so we
can recognize them at our get-to-gether. Doesn't matter what
type of livestock, whether or not they placed, etc., just think
we need to acknowledge their efforts and encourage them
to continue their interest in raising and caring for their critters.
So, please take a minute and drop me a PM with your
reports, names, ages, etc. And, if your County Fair won't be
until after POOPS, go ahead and drop me a note about
their plans.
Think about it........one of these days these kids are going to
have to "bring us" to POOPS.......LOL
