So that rooster is splash. Interesting. I think I have the mottled and splash thing now.

I'm off to the chicken auction. There's a RIR rooster I'm not going to put up with anymore. I'm going to try some of the Australorp hatching eggs too.

Doesn't look like there's any way to get there from up here.......

Gotta double back and "update" our menu list. Gees, is
LOOKIN' GOOD !!!!!!! AND....so far.....the extended forecast
looks like "Mother Nature" knows we're having POOPS !!!!!!!!

ok, roo question here- Roo(original name huh?) by br decided today to show he was boss, nipping at my fingers and doing the raising feathers etc at me, so i reached again to see if he would repeat it, yep- so i picked him up, in front of all his girls and told him no!...or you are going to poops! held him awhile and then put him down, is this the right technique??

....I went through the very same thing this past summer. We kept losing chicks some as old as 2 months fully feathered. We tried EVERYTHING known to man. Nothing worked. We still don't know what happened. The sad thing was we were always asking each other....HOW MANY DID WE LOSE TODAY...not...HOW MANY EGGS DID WE GET TODAY. I was ready to throw my towel in and get rid of everything. But everyone on here was so encouraging...reminding they were chickens and it just happened that way sometimes.

Hope things get better cause it sure is frustrating when you work so hard to hatch and take care of them and just lose in an instant.

HOWDY chicken freaks!

Hope y'all had a fun day! I gave tests in three classes...the poor dears cried...said it was hard. I asked if they studied...they said we took our books home...but didn't open them

Then they asked about a make-up test

Gotta love the little darlings...apparently they ain't getting it at home. I have one student that comes by to get yelled at when she makes bad grades cuz her folks don't...she wants to know someone cares

Thanks for the release! Wife gets tired of me at times! That and spending to much on the kids! and the birds...and toys...and hunting...and...she is such an enabler!

Hey Teach...or anyone else on here...can you help me here. I have a pair of white Showgirls...I know they are part silkie and part turken....I was told that 50% of the time you will get a showgirl and the rest I don't know. I've had 3 eggs hatch and all three are just cute little white fuzzy butts...black skin...4 toes. What the heck do I call these little chicks? Where's my showgirl...I'm getting cheated on my 50%...LOL...
