Hey I need a "Is that your final answer>

Do you have to have a permit to own quail? I have heard it both ways. I am mainly concerned with the Cotournix/Pharoah types. I know it was discussed here but again I never heard a clear answer.
Thanks,
Monty, the non addicted chicken owner who may or may not have quail depending on the answer to the above question.

I have a couple of Barred Rocks (Barred Plymouth Rocks) and a couple of hatchery Rhode Island Reds...and one brown leghorn...the only white egg layer in my flock! I must say that my comment about reduced egg production in the winter did NOT apply to my Barred Rock (BR) in last year's flock...I've heard from others that the BRs are some of the most consistent winter layers, so they're a good choice - friendly and curious, too.

Oh no, Grace! If it's not one thing, it's another. I hope these neighbors take great care to keep their dog in their own yard. You or your dad might mention to them that your creatures are award-winning show animals that would be very costly for them to replace if one was damaged in any way by their dog.

Yeah, we mentioned that they were "important" and "expensive" maybe they got the picture

What are you looking for?... eggs, chicks, adults..

Just the next thing on my list! I won't be able to do anything till spring. Not building more pens till then. Right now everything is full except on "sick pen".

I have a hen that came out of the sick pen that won't go back in with the flock. Everytime I look to find her she is in with my silkies/BTW jap! I'm gonna have to get her back in there.......never had this happen before.

I do have birds I would be selling... so I kinda "need" to go....

City I have to agree my BR have not let up and my EE are laying well to but I am keeping a light on for an extra 5 hours a day and I think that may be helping a bit.

OK my turn for a question!! I heard at one point you could make silkies go broody is this true and if so how?

I sure wish I could go to the next Blanchard auction, or even the Fletcher auction, or the Cement auction ... or the Chupps auction. I think I'll be forced to work MANDATORY OVERTIME all weekend long though

Hey, I like your Spitzhauben hen avatar!

thank you

Thanks City

I am not all that concerned with the egg laying right away as I understand they do slow down in the winter because of the shorter days. So are those three breeds going to be pretty easy to find in Oklahoma?
