Oh wow, I don't know how you manage all that! Glad you found a light, that should be the same thing. You're at Tinker, right? We go there for Thanksgiving with my hubby's grandma and her part of the family.

Mornin Okies!

Up a little early this mornin, heading to Monty's house in Choctaw to pick up a pair of Hatch American Game Bantams that Michael gave me!! Can't wait to see them. Worked on pens all day yesterday, thought for sure I was gonna get rained on but never did. Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning Okies! I started today out the typical Monday way... forgot my work badge, so had to surrender my keys at the door so I could get a temp badge to use today... woo hoo. I took great pleasure in knowing that my department manager's name was 2 lines above mine on the temp badge sheet, so he had to get one too.

Bad of me, I know.

Well the chicks, except for 2, are in the big goat waterer with a red flood light in the lamp to keep them warm. Charcoal, the new kitten from Okiemommy, is very loud, btw. I could hear her through 3 closed doors trying to tell us that it was time to get up because she was hungry *right now*. Was hilarious... especially since it was my 9 year old daughter trudging through the house to feed the cats... and as she stopped by the brooder she had to lean over and make cooing sounds at the chicks.

Ok, what causes them to be sticky when they hatch... too much or too little humidity?

Too little humidity causes sticking. The last three days need to be around 60%.

What was wrong with the little one that had to be culled?

Hrm. Maybe I need to recalibrate the humidity reader that I have (I can't remember the word for it...) Supposedly it was at 60-70%.

Parts of him/her was on the outside... not yolk sack, looked like intestines/guts. The others were starting to peck at it, and I didn't want it to suffer.
