That's the plan... I bought three of them from TimK out in Tuttle (Cyclone, Blizzard, and Tornado), and 3 from Ione in TN (Volcano, Tsunami, and Sandstorm). I picked a roo from Ione for the pullets from Tim... and the roo from Tim will go great with the girls from Ione... at least, that's the hope

Funny thing I am listening to music as I am cleaning the house. And as I am reading this 'Tusk' by Fleetwood Mac just came on and now I really want to dance with lots of excitement!

If anyone buys one of the jerky guns, make sure to open the package before you buy it. Check to see if the trigger is plastic or metal. There are some, same brand and packaging, that have a plastic trigger and they break really easy. The first one I had was plastic and it didn't last one season. We usually do about 4+ deer for jerky every year. My husband doesn't even hunt. There are some guys here in town that like to hunt but don't like the flavor of deer. They kill and we eat!!

Hey Sooner! I just got caught up on the posts.

I was glad to see Slightly Cracked's post - good luck on your test, Neecy!

I am in the same boat with those of you who have to work on Holidays. I have to work Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and on the SHAWNEE show day.

I don't mean to completely change the subject but..... does any one have any sick chickens lately?
I ask because a woman near me [sort of] has had nothing but big trouble for over a month now, sick and dying like flys!!!!!
The state came a picked up some dead ones to test, I' worried what we might have going around in our neighborhood and possibly the state.
Have you all heard of sick birds in your area?

Yeah we are very lucky. It is a rare occasion when we have to buy meat from the store. We get free beef from my husband's job, raise various birds for processing and hunting friend's supply the rest. The only meat we usually buy is pork. It is a lifesaver with the price of meat at the store. A good steak around here is about $8.00/lb.

I had an episode after we had all the rain in October with some respiratory stuff. I isolated the sickies and treated them and then the whole flock. Everything is looking good now. (Knocking on Wood)

Silky... mine got the snarkies awhile back...had to cull a couple....but I had never wormed them. When I wormed them they had a huge worm load and I have been really trying to build them back up. Vitamins, ground up cat food in the pellets etc. All this happened right at the time they were molting. It's been a long road but this time when the cold hit I had a sneeze or two...but that was it. Seems they are building back up I guess. I have had to cull a couple of younger pullets this summer due to a weird neurological thing, but it's random and I don't think it's a viral issue. Dropping dead has (Thank God) not been an issue either.
