Goodness! I just realized what time it is. I guess I'd better head for bed - I have to take the younger daughter to Broken Arrow tomorrow. I hope the rain holds off until we get back. Then it's time to sew! We've been passing around a stomach bug for the last two weeks, and I am going to make the grandkids PJ's for Christmas. If I don't get started, they'll have to sleep nekked!

I use ten penny nails and they never break. You can bend them if you don't make a solid hit but with a good hammer and a little practice you can be successful. Mine never chip or crack. i only use two colors. Silver and Rusty.

Wayne, I'm down to 4 Asil chicks that hatched from the 6 eggs. I found one nearly dead along with a dead silkie chick in the brooder so I've decided to put LS-50 in the drinking water for a week so that no other chicks die. Anyway, I am going to save those chicks and give them back to you when you visit Oklahoma again.

Gosh, I need some time to read all the posts since I've been off for a few days. Hopefully I get lots of free time at work this afternoon. Now Gerald and I had better go feed everything & figure out what to do with 2 goats before we have to go to work. Poor goats are still in a pen in the back of the truck since we didn't get home 'til late last night.

Carla as long as you have ruled out Cocci, no bloody droppings right?, up their protien a tad. What I will often do is to finely chop boiled eggs and mix it close to 50/50 with chick starter and give them all they want.

For years we could not raise a Pea chick till an older keeper told us to do this and I still use it on chicks of all types. It will really give them a much needed boost.

I'm heading for my bed... probably should have done that as soon as I got off work, but I had to relax first. That retail job is very stressful... I feel like a tuned piano wire when I get out of that place.

What tone do you use? Do you have a light on them? Figures I would pick the best ones to sell and keep the slackers.

I usually just hang a big ol soup pot on a fence post and tell them that will be their destiny if they don't get crackn'. Works for me!

I heard the honk, but thought it was a mom or dad honking for the grandson's to come out to the driveway. Sort of got my hopes up - still have the grandsons, who are past tired.

I may have not actually heard a honk - just been wishfully thinking for a few hours that it was time for the parents to either call us and tell us we could put the grandsons to bed at our house, or come and get them so they could go to bed in their own beds. One grandson is telling his younger brother "just think, the longer they are gone, the more presents they are buying." The younger one is just plain cranky. PaPa went to bed more than an hour ago.
