Buster - Raw milk, as in unprocessed? I've always thought that sounded yummy! Is it safe to drink though? I saw one of our new bottom ads here is for raw milk; I think its in Canada though. I found that I could eat cheese, since the lactose if processed out of it. I was excited, cheese is one of my favorite foods.

I'm praying that this time things work!

concreteguy51 - Are you from Cement? Lol jk. Welcome to the board!

fletcherauction - Welcome to the board!!

I love reading all of the posts about roos crowing in the house and garage. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Carla - I love that big fluffy hen in your avatar! Is it a BLRW??

Alright when it warms up I HAVE to go to a Blanchard auction! I'd thought about going yesterday but I didn't figure anyone would be there since its so cold. I should've known you can't stop chicken addicts!

It's good to see that ya'll joined the bunch.

I certainly hope to eventually see your auction going as well as the Blanchard auction, although location is definitely against you. I absolutely hate paying the turnpike fees to drive there, especially if I think the auction will be small. Also, one of your 2 monthly auctions is the same time as the Cement auction. It's a tough decision to stop going to one auction I like and go to another. I sure wish ya'll were at a different time or day for the 1st weekend of the month.

I too think as many of us do here that the scheduling of this new Fletcher auction does conflict with the more established and well run auctions in our area. The Fletcher auction owners need to find a way to attract the volume chicken buyers in the area, I think that is a critical to their success. If it continues to bring in the garage sale type goods instead of quality poultry that they are fast becoming the norm the big flocks of real chicken folks may just pass altogether.............................. Sorry Jim.........................

Yup, yup, and you bet. Not to mention delicious! It hasn't had all the taste and nutrition boiled out of it.

The secret to the safe part is finding a farmer willing to let you see where he or she does the milking. If they are willing to let you do that, I would bet it is safer than the stuff you can buy in the store. Not to mention FRESH!

It also happens to be legal, if you purchase the milk directly from the farmer. For the farmers who do more than the allowed amount of business, you can buy a share in the cow and then be able to pay for the labor and associated costs to produce your milk. I'm about own part of a milk cow some day soon now! The guy I'm buying my milk from is reaching a point where he will have passed the allowable limit and so needs to change the way he does things.

Hey, that's okay, Al. It is okay for us to disagree on occasion. I'm not sure we do disagree on this all that much. I do think the big buyers who buy and then sell elsewhere should reconsider that third Saturday (although I haven't been all that impressed with Cement's selection lately, either), as they can pick up some really good bargains to sell for a good bit more in another venue. Plus if the junk is sold at 4 before the poultry part starts at 5 I don't see how that would affect chicken folks at all, although there was that time when they slipped it into the poultry auction... that was a big mistake in my view.

And them heaters and fans really do the trick for me. If Cement would start taking the comfort of the buyer into account, it would make me a happy camper.

Even if I'm wrong about this, I was right about Blanchard, wasn't I? Can't be right all the time. It would ruin my reputation.

Donna, I am pretty sure the only Hamburgs Monty ever had were Large Fowl.... but they would seam kinda of small because they are just a small breed (not at all like Orpingtons or Rocks etc.)

I'm still catching up on posts, so I haven't seen if/where you posted a picture, but I'll be watching for it
