Is anyone going to Maud Thursday night? I'm looking for some Marans so I think I'm gonna go. If I don't, I know they'll have some and I'll miss them!

People are starting to bring chicks now and I got my nursery cleaned and ready to go again. Hope they have some good stuff. They had several incubators and turners last week.
Does anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for a Hova-bator for a decent price. Im not sure if I will have to order them or if there is a place i can walk in and buy them....any suggestions?

Yes it did. I've been reading it and still thinking about getting some birds to give it a try. Just enough to stock our freezer. I'm not sure I want to go the expense of getting setup for processing, we're not looking to turn it into a money maker, just want good food & want to try to avoid the chemical chickens at the market.

So I guess at this point I need to find a processor before I go further.

I am really curious to find out more on what you guys are talking about! Can you fill me in?

Matt can speak for himself, of course, but he mentioned he was interested in raising some Cornish X meat birds for the table and I recommended Salatin's Pastured Poultry Profits as a good how-to book. It's a bit dated, and tends to emphasize meat birds as a business, but sitll lots of practical information for raising them cheaply.

A friend of mine here locally is ordering 600 Cornish X to be shipped the first part of April, and has offered to let me and anyone else who wants to piggy back on his order, since he is getting such a great deal due to the large order. I was wondering if Matt was interested, but I think he is too far away for it to be of any use.

Chicken people are not strange! We just have varying degrees of special... I'll reword your sentence

"But some of us are more special than others..."

See. Doesn't that sound better?

Price is cheap, but type not good...back too long, and you can't tell about size. Depends on what quality you want.

I had noticed the ad.

Our first Serama egg should hatch about Friday!

Good Morning Folks!

Atwoods sells some parts but the cheapest place I have found is Double R Ranch Supply on line. They have everything and sometimes there are free shipping on certain items.

Oh and if I have time this evening I will post pictures of my coop.

Someone was talking earlier about pallets for making coops. The next time that Ft Sill has them,

I'll let you know. I can get them for free. The last time I only took 2 trailer loads and haven't

used all of them yet. I still have almost 2,000 board feet left.

32OZ?????????? GEE NO WONDER YOU DON'T SLEEP! GOOD LUCK ON SCHOOL BY THE WAY.

Um. That's 32 oz after I get to work. Doesn't cover what I'll drink this afternoon or evening either. I don't have a bloodstream. I have a coffee stream that's tinted kinda pink.

I'm back. Went to the feed store this morning to get waterers and feeders for the brooders. then we started moving chicks. I dont know if it will help having them, I have more space now and it seems a little more organized but I dont think its going to take long to fill them up. I have 6 and need about 6 more at least.

Maybe I should just get rid of some breeds.... Nah!

Hi Carah, I could start anywhere and still have too much to do everywhere else. I want and need to do some outside stuff but I have inside stuff to do to. I really need to start spring cleaning and start tossing stuff. That is hard for me because I am not a tosser, I am keeper.
I need to do some maintainance on the car my DD drives to college and of course there is all the stuff outside to do starting with the mud hens that are up to their thighs in mud.
Anyway that is a start.
