Isn't it ironic how folks will pay several dollars for hatchery chicks at the store, but balk at paying $1.25 per chick at an auction. I guess part of the problem is that the folks at the auction are often hatching their own chicks so unless there is a variety they really want they don't sell very well sometimes. (did I mention that I bought blue splash Americauna chicks at the auction?

I have to confess that I never really was certain of the colors that sold so well last year. I have a blue and red Americauna rooster, so still get some blue pullets every now and then from the hatches. I am currently hatching all of the blue/green eggs from my laying flock, since I know that they are from an Americauna hen and the only roos in that yard are Americaunas. They are definately EEs since they are not solid color hens or roos.

Marybeth,

I've got a guy on the phone that wants to know if you have a blue or black Americauna Rooster available for sale.

Doc

No, I don't have any pure colored Americauna roos. Sorry.

I hope ya'll will have hatching eggs from them for sale sometime in the future. I have a soft spot for Americaunas, but was very happy to sell you a blue feathered one at the Blanchard auction last May for $52

Peaches bid on that but we didn't get that hen. Jeff Dually bought it. Peaches got the egg she laid but it got broken before she could get it home.

Since y'all got hit by a pack of dogs last year, I am glad you didn't pay that much for the hen. What was so special about her?

Peaches was mad that she was called away from bidding when they came through. They were good looking chicks.

Just for that, I told Dean about the tool auction, location and dates. We know where to find you now on the first and third Friday nights of every month..

I don't know whether Gerald was tormenting me or serious, but he looked at them and seem to think they are mostly roos. Time will tell. If they are roos, Peaches may get another chance to bid on them.

She was a beautiful blue color, young and already laying. Blue anything sells good at auction.

That dog killed $800 worth of birds. I was livid.

Thanks for checking in. I hope you had a nice visit with your mom and didn't have to drive in rain on the way home.

We had a great day! It was nice to just hang today. We did go out to the antique mall for alittle while & I got a nice metal chick feeder for 4.00, never been used.
The drive wasn't bad, I started one of my book on cassette's so I really enjoyed that. It did drizzel most of the way.

She probably would anyway.

Doc and Peaches,
I hope y'all have a great hatch rate on your pheasants, particularly the golden pheasants. I would like to get some hatching eggs from golden pheasants, Lady Amherst pheasants and Swinehoe pheasants. I have a pair of golden pheasants but have never been able to keep the chicks that successfully hatched alive, longer than about 4 days.
