Quoting from the Dr. Les Basic Flock Health handout (available at no charge if you will PM me your real name and mailing address)

Tylan - 50 or Tylan-200
This is commonly used for respiratory illnesses and works well against most except infectious Coryza and MG, which is better known as CRD. It works best as an injectable but can also be given orally with slower results. There is also a water solubul Tylan-50.
For Tylan-50 give 1/2 cc daily for standard and 1/4cc for small bantams. Give once a day for 5 days.

LS-50 or Lincomycin-Spectinomycin(generic) These are the drugs of choice for Les, for the CRD that has the swollen heads, lots of mucus and sneezing. These are both water soluble and are mixed 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. Treat for a full 4 days after all symptoms are gone.

Yes, we are paying attention, but some of us are on and off at odd times of the day/night so it can take a few hours for a response

I would warm the VetRx and apply it full strenghth beneath the wing where the bird puts her head when roosting. I don't dilute it with water when applying to the nostrils or the waddles or a few drops in the mouth. You can pour some into the water dish, where it will float and everytime the bird gets a drink of water they put their beak through the floating medication and get it on their nostrils.

Ok here is the application for ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. The camp is held July 11-23, 2010. It is two weeks witht he kids coming home during the weekend. They stay in a dorm at SWOSU in Weatherford during the week. This camp is free and is open to kids who will be in grades 6-8 next Fall. They will study robotics, rocketry, respiration and biology, astronomy, sensor technology, mathmatics, research, writing, and more. They will take field trips to Oklahoma Science Museum, the Thomas P. Stafford Air and Space Center, and Frontier City. If you have more questions, the application has more information. You can also check out this website. If accepted, Jordan will be attending this camp. It would be awesome if there were more BYC kiddos there also. They have to fill out an essay and applicants are chosen from the masses. Not everyone that applies, will be accepted. Sharing this information has now reduced the chance that he will be accepted. Oh well, I like to be helpful. . . .sometimes.

Edited to add that there is another camp, held by same foundation, being held at OU, June 6-18, 2010.

She is a real nice lady but her silkies are to crowded and they had poo dried on their feet and it was tough getting it off. it made a couple of their toenails bleed. It was real bad. I felt sorry for them. Bless her heart she needs to know you think it would hurt her feelings if i said something? Thanks again

just for my file- what is that in teaspoons???

There are about 5 cc in 1 tsp. It would be best if you bought a small syringe - don't need one with a needle if you are putting it in their water, but you will be better able to measure chicken meds, since 1/2 cc is going to be about 1/10th of a tsp.

i know i have one silky that i bathed once a week during the summer due to a lice problem- silkies love baths- maybe soaking their feet would help in that kind of situation?

Do you suppose my Serama would start laying if I started feeding her laying crumbles? She is still on starter/grower. She stays in the coop with the teenage Silkies. I don't know why I never thought of changing her feed. I guess its because she isn't big enough to eat the layer pellets and I don't normally buy layer crumbles.

If I switch her feed, do you think the Silkies would be fine on layer instead of starter? They are about 2.5 months old, I think, and the Seramas are 5 months old.
