Jeez...Pack my bags... I'm going on a guilt trip...You are right Monty....It's just sometimes I feel like I'm trying to hold people together who are bent on destruction!
Henny I was really just messin with you. Don't feel guilty. Guys just think different.
My wife told me if I died and left her here to deal with everything she would be very angry with me.
I told her I am sorry she would have to go through that but that she wouldn't be mad at me the next time she saw me. She said why not? And I said Because thats one of the rules up there.
lol That's right thats the rule up there! plus she would be glad to see you right!
I am going to do my best to come to the poops, I will bring baked beans and talk to a buddy of mine and see if I can get him to make me up a batch of his Beer Brats, Homemade and OOOHHHSO GOOD!!!!, Can maybe bring a bag of salad too, Dizzy, I love the EEs, I would like some eggs or chicks from them, I think the rooster you have in with them is pretty too, might think about a Silver or Golden Laced Wyandotte cross with those hens??? Lynn
I would like to encourage everyone that possibly can, please come to POOPS.
I understand there are scheduling conflicts and other problems that arise but if at all possible please try to come.
We had Chickenstock last fall and i couldn't make it because of a schedule conflict so I now how that can happen.
I am not sure how many attended but I know that if we can't get a pretty good sized group together that having a third event will be harder to put together.
So anyone that possibly can please try to come.
Monty
there are actually only two colors of eggs - white and blue. Brown eggs are white on the inside and have a brown cuticle of various shades of brown that colors the outside. Blue eggs are blue on the inside and various shades of blue/green/pink on the outside. The blue egg gene is dominant, which is why you get so many different shades of blue/green/pink when you start crossing Americauna birds.
Try cracking open a white egg, a brown egg and a green/blue egg. You will see that the inside is either white or blue. Brown eggs, no matter how deep the outer color of brown, are actually white on the inside.

when trying to decide how many banty eggs (or turkey eggs) are the equivalent of a large egg, break them into a measuring cup. A large egg is just a little shy of 1/4 cup of egg, so if you need three eggs for a cake, just break enough eggs to make almost 3/4 cup of eggs. My chickens don't lay eggs of uniform size and I bake a lot of cakes - so I have figured out that for 4 cakes mixes made at the same time (12 large eggs), I will generally need 14 eggs of the size my hens lay - or 9-10 turkey eggs.
