Where is everyone? I figured all of you evening folks would be chatting it up over the news piece.
I thought everyone did great in the story except me of course.
It should be on the Oklahoma News report tomorrow night at 6:30 on your local OETA affiliate.
The local newscater here mentioned BYC and mentioned that the link to BYC was on the website.

Sorry that one of the silkies didn't make it. Fortunately, you have Blizzard and Storm?? that are full grown silkies from the raffle and they have already passed the "maybe they will, maybe they won't - make it" stage.

I don't always have very good luck with silkie chicks myself, so was glad to get the grown black silkie roo that Betsy had donated to the auction and the pre-teen blue and black silkie chicks that Teach sold in the auction. I put them together in the cage to go home and the roo has "adopted" the smaller silkies and is allowing them to snuggle beneath him at night. I was able to put them in an uncovered chainlink pen since they don't fly like the other chickens do

I may end up nicknaming the black and white big silkies AM and PM since they are like night and day.. ha ha ha

but they are doing very well and so far so is the silkie baby roo you gave Aleisha... we have him in a seperate wire cage with in the big wire cage the other two silkie and our now lonely OEG pullet so they are all sharing the love with out hurting the lil one..

Thank you again for being so kind and considerete of our family your are a treasure!

I have been reading all the posts about poops the last couple of days and just wanted to pop in and say how happy I am for all of you. Sounds like everyone had a great time, the volunteers did great, and there was lots of camaraderie. I especially want to congratulate the people who organized such an event that was so well received by the Oklahoma chicken community.

Hey wait... I guess that makes you guys chicken community organizers.

Maybe you could run for president.

Anyway, hats off to all!

Well I ended up passing out before I got the chance to candle any eggs last night. I candeled tonight and much to my dismay, everything was growing well. I have had crappy percentages while incubating this season. I honestly believed that I would end up pulling a bunch of infertile eggs or quitters. I only ended up having to pull out a few. I bought a ton of eggs at POOPS expecting to be able to get them into the cooker. I was able to get almost all of them in by not using a turner in one incubator. I put 1.5 dozen turkeys and 3.5 dozen RIR eggs in there. They are packed edge to edge. I will have to figure something out because I have all three incubators cooking and I will need one to hatch in on Wednesday. I may have to just pull the turner out and not turn the other eggs for a couple of days. They are just my mixed chicks, so I'm not too concerned about them. I really want the Seramas to hatch, so they are top priority right now. Like an idiot, when I was candeling them, I dropped one and cracked it really bad. I quickly lit the candle that sitts on my kitchen counter near the bators and patched it. I'm hoping it will be fine, since they go into lockdown on the 5th.

I'd vote for them too. Then we would have a president and vice president that would pledge allegiance and put their hand over their heart when they did it. A cabinet that believed in God and the Bible rather than the koran. And guess what, we KNOW where they were born, no doubts about the citizenship.
