Thanks CityClucks! 2 of my hens are Dominiques (and one rooster, too). The other is from my dad's place, and it's a "barnyard mutt"

I don't know enough about breeds to know what kind it may be in part, but it has feathered feet and it is a light gray color. In addition to our 3 hens, we have 2 roosters at the moment. Not sure if we'll be keeping the roosters. One is a Dominique, and the the other is another "mutt", but it's all white, not feathered feet, but some feathering down it's legs.

I know, I'm a wealth of information.

""A lot of people drive to Tulsa for work. Some work at McAlester Army Ammunitions Plant,
There is a glass plant in Henryetta which is that town's biggest employer.
What type work will your husband be looking for?""

My dh works at Walmart, so he could transfer to walmart at Henryetta. Thats his plan anyway.
The properties we were looking at are about 3.5 miles west of Dustin on 9, and a mile + back off the road. The road off of 9 is dirt and very very very very bumpy.

How is Weleetka? It has about 500 or so more ppl then Dustin.

Sweetwater here in TX is about 7-8000 ppl. (The pop sign says 11000, but no way thats right)

Clothdiaperingmom - A mile and a half off the
highway sounds like heaven to us. We're
right on Hwy 82 just N of Tahlequah and
hate it all day/every day. We've heard
that the new highway widening is going
to take our place.........just wish we knew
when. We have 28 acres, but all but
the highway side 6 is under flood plane, so
they'll have to take the whole thing. Am
hoping our next mailbox is 5 miles from
the house..............LOL

Welcome to all our "newbies". This is the
best bunch of folks you'll ever find..........
bar none.

Sooner - Haven't seen "that" hen today.
Recon she heard what I said??????????
And, Bill talked to Pepper. He'll be at the
show, so throw his shirts in. Imagine you're
working on birds. We're still planning to
be there. Good vibes for Madison !!!

The Walmart in Okmulgee is a super walmart. The Henryetta one is one of the older tiny ones.
There is not much in Weleetka. Good people though.
They used to have a great restaurant there but it burned down and I am not sure if they built it back.
They had the biggest chicken fried steak I have ever seen and I know of several places that claim to have the biggest.

I used to do a lot of fishing down that way. On both the Canadian river and Wewoka Creek.

I'm still around working on a shutterfly account for all of our pictures. If you guys want to upload pictures please feel free. It also allows me to add members so I can make it where not everyone can see it. please PM me your email address so you can be added as a member. This will be one central location that every POOPS can be kept. If anyone has a picture in my album that they don't want on there please let me know & I will remove it. Ok well I will remove any of them but the soggy bottom boys & Teach in a tutu!

Welcome to a fine group of folks who live in Oklahoma or who wish they lived in Oklahoma.

Guineas are supposed to be the very best at controlling ticks, but I agree that the ducks and chickens do a fine job of eating bugs as well. Only the turkeys don't seem too interested in bugs.

Now, if I could just find something that wants to eat flies I would be a very happy flock and rabbit owner.

I know that they all like the maggots - the guineas scratch through the pile of composting poo for them, which helps control them around the big animals.

One inch poultry wire won't keep a snake out. Hardware cloth is the best.

Thanks,...I pretty much knew that. I just didn't want to put out the money. I will have to do it anyway. NO MORE SNAKES!!

The cheap 1/2 plastic bird netting spld at garden centers will work also. Just wad it up at the base of the pens very loosly, the snakes get caught in it.
