Here's an email that was forwarded to me regarding Wasp Spray. I'd heard that it was good to use instead of pepper spray for self defense, but never heard about using it on a mouse of snake! I don't think I'd spray the stuff anywhere near the chickens though.

Subject: Wasp Spray

I know some of you own GUNS but this is something to think about...---

If you don't have a gun, here's a more humane way to wreck someone's evil plans for you. Did you know this? I didn't. I never really thought of it before. I guess I can get rid of the baseball bat.

Wasp Spray - A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save your life.

Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School . For decades, he's suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.

Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the culprit in the eyes". It's a tip he's given to students for decades.

It's also one he wants everyone to hear. If you're looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray. "That's going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out." Maybe even save a life.

Please share this with all the people who are precious to your life

Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will! Good to know, huh? It will also kill a wasp.!!!!

Actually I did have a good time. I have a stupid summer cold that is got me zapped but other than that we were able to do some stuff in and around the down pours. Shot off a lot of fireworks. Well, Jared did. Not my cup of tea really.
Carah, glad you got some R&R. You deserve it.
Sorry I miossed Doc's send off.
Hope everyone is doing OK. Looks like a week of mugginess and rain. I think I prefer that over the temps over 100 and everything frying like bacon. Although my pens look awful. They don't smell so good either.
In fact I need to go down and let some of those guys explore the great outdoors.

Everyone else, I hope you all have a Blessed Day, and wish ya'll the best.

Now I'd better get outside & feed lots of critters before I head to work. I have a bad feeling I'll find that I get to work 10 hour days, 7 days a week again. At least I had 4 nice rainy days off to get lots of rest, now it's back to the grindstone.

Bazebole been berry berry good to me! Gotta love Little League. Great experience. I loved playing. My kids never took to baseball or softball. Mainly basketball, football and of course Jared has a fishing pole in one hand and a gun in the other.
Good to see ya back around.
Teach, are ya gonna come and visit an auction anytime soon?

Hey Wayne, howza life in the state of Davy Crockett?
Do you live anywhere near the town of Niota?
Its still green here and the desert part of Oklahoma got flooded yesterday. The cactus will grow a foot overnight.

I got some R&R but I can always use more but I don't think I will get away with any more days off for a while. LOL.

Hope your cold goes away soon! Are you hard headed & don't take anything until it is real bad?

I have been taking a decongestant and antibiotic. I don't know if the antibiotics will help but I take them anyway.
I am better today. Fishing in the rain Saturday probably didn't help any.
Don't you have vaction time?

Carla,
Thanks for the reminder about wasp spray. I didn't know it would kill mice though - I might have to try that out. I did buy two cans recently and can attest from yesterday's experience that it will shoot a wasp nest hanging 15 feet high on a rafter, with great accuracy.

Sorry you are back to the overtime. That would cease to be "fun" after a week or two of extra pay but no time to enjoy life.

Teach - thanks for checking in. Glad to know that it is summer activities with your sons that has you out of communication (plus computer issues like several of us are having), rather than poor health.

Dean is installing a new dishwasher. We didn't know that you need a surge protector on a dishwasher that has a computer circuit board control panel. We fried the "nice" dishwasher a few months ago when we had problems with the garbage disposal, that is on the same electric circuit. All of the sudden, the dishwasher wouldn't recognize that the door was actually closed so it wouldn't come on.

We took it in for repair and learned that the computer board would be about $200 to replace. We bought a used one instead, used it for 3 months and when we had problems with the garbage disposal again, the computer board on the "used" dishwasher died.

We will definately be getting a surge protector for this dishwasher.
