Hi, Shavon!

That was Suzi that said hi, but I'll take the howdy any day. How are you guys fairing in the lower corner of the state? Did ya get much rain?

Well I knew it was one of those nice ladies whose name started with S!

I'm doing well. There has been rain for the past few days, but it hasn't been too heavy

I wish this moisture cycle would move on for a little while. The chicken and horse runs aren't smelling too nice lately. Plus there always seems to be mud all over the eggs, poor hens can't help but get mud on them.

I don't think I have ever spent a whole day on here before. This is a world record for me! I guess I am just to busy usually to sit for this long...getting sick is apparently good for my poultry-crowd social life!

We ended up with about 5 inches total. Today is the first day, since the end of last month, that we haven't had a drop of rain. It felt nice to finally dry out a bit. It evens out to about 9 days in a row for precipitation.

Well, I am going to wander outside for a minute to check on Vern. He is sheeting the outside of the turkey coop. I am excited cuz those turkeys are way too big to be indoors all the time...they need to be REAL turkeys! But poor Vern needs some moral support out there...be back inside in a few, peeps...I might need a nap, but I will be back!

Evening all! Fun Chick glad you are able to sit up and play on the puter. Aren't they fun when you have time to play!lol

Well the wife is back from Mertle Beach, all tanned and tired! Said it was a good trip. I went to an auction today. Itwas pretty good, not as big as last month but still big. I sold several birds and the prices were fair. The only thing I saw I liked was a mottled mixed banty hen with 7 chicks. But they were everyones favorite apparently! I did get a female guniea pig. Hey Teach looks like the pig price hike is over, this one was only $1.50! Maybe at the fall Amish sale they will be back down and I can load some up for ya!.

So tonight I moved birds around since I had a couple of extra cages available. I thined out all ,(well not All!lol) of the axtra roo chicks and took them to the sale. That will help the feed bill.

We got a little rain but I still had to water the flowers tonight. Really all it did was make it more muggy. Well I'm off to bed, have a peaceful and restful night all.

Al -- Peaches have you all in our prayers.

Looking forward to visiting again Wayne and I would love some more guinea pigs...I only have four!

Shavon!!!--you got a snake!!! That is cute little ball! They are a blast...I lost both of mine last year...lost as in they died...but now I am into redtail boas and others...need to get some pics! Anyways...will be hollering at you Monday...I will be in Weatherford.

Blanchard is twice the month...right?

um...who had the veggies going to the sale...Carla?...save me some beautiful! I am gonna try to your way as well!!!

I have had a wild couple days...went to the gator farm...check that...tourist trap...thought they might actually be raising gators...nope...just there to make a couple bucks with a couple little ones to pet and a few big ones to look at...they did have a couple chickens and turkeys...midget whites...yuck-o

time to get some chores done!

I suppose it is technically possible. There might be enough space between the net and chicken wire fence to let a mink in. I didn't see any bite marks... just 2 dead birds in the coop. I'm almost beginning to suspect my neighbor. the mason jar feeder was knocked over too.

Bear boards work well for the two legged predators.

Bear boards? Is it something that will (probably) get me in legal trouble if I used it and a human got trapped in it?

Today was not my day. After locking up the chicken run, and getting some replacement chicks and getting them in a brooder (A converted rabbit cage) I go to pick up my Daughter from work. When I get back there's a black snake making its escape from the brooder with a bulge in it. I get a machete and behead the snake and sure enough there's 1 chick missing. In the process of removing the snake and moving the brooder I wind up losing another 2 chicks. Then I come home around 10:45 pm to find all 21 of the 7 week old chicks huddled by the fence waiting for some nocturnal bunyip to come get them. Why didn't they go into the coop at dusk? Maybe I should just stick with cats.

Well, I am back from Blanchard.
I left Maribeth, Rebecca, Carla and Gerald there to close the place down.
It was nice talking to everyone.
Buster, Stephanie and Carl, Yonderoak and Elle, B52fizzle were there too.
Sold a few, bought a few. Vicious cycle this chicken life.
Night folks.
