Welcome back Q! That was a good thing to spend time with the family.

Sorry about your flock and your nephew. Hope they both get back on track! Its been kinda slow on here this summer. Lots of us took off for the summer I believe. Lots of ups and downs,good times and bad on here this summer also. But its good that you will be back on. Time to kick start this thread up again. We have lots of newbies and they haven't seen us in our glory yet!.

Hey everyone,

This heat really makes it interesting to run water and fill up the horses trough 3 times already....

Picked up a 5 gallon waterer for the chickens and have dispersed a few of their 3 gallon ones around the yard for the turkeys

The few remaining ducks and geese get the kiddie pool...

Lost three of my young quail to the heat. I brought the rest inside and made sure that they were drinking water. They seem to be recovering, but I'll be keeping a close eye on them. My adults seem to be doing well; they are laying down in the little quail holes that they have dug in their pen. I've been icing everyone's water to help keep them cool, and every pen has shade. Not much else to do but wait for the heat to break. Found a baby songbird under DH's log splitter, looked in all the trees for the nest but couldn't find it. Mama Bird finally showed me the little nest she had built in the log splitter. Did some reading to make sure that she wouldn't reject it and put it back with its brothers and sisters.

So I guess now we can kick around a bunch of new idea's for the rebuilding of the new flock, I will lend you my Light Brahmas for a yr if that will help you out. The Blanchard 14th auction is shaping up to be another small BYC oldies reunion, we gotta get Donna hoppin now, let me know if it's a possibility and I will round up the troops.

Al I have a pair of Light Brahmas bought just have to go and get them. Carolyn is wanting to get some more Barred Rocks, other than that I havnt really thought much about what else I am gonna get.

Dont look like I will be making Blanchard its not a payday week, momma says that I can only shop on pay day weeks!!!
