Well it is 7:34 and I am the only person to post in five hours. So where did everyone run off too while I was gone this weekend.

If I haven't mentioned this before, let me just say CHICKENS ARE STUPID! I won't go into details. Just take my for it. Dumb birds.
OK I will check back in a bit, hopefully someone else will have posted.

Hello Moses,
I was out of town all week but got back Friday. My Hubby took good care of my chicks for me. My fancy coop came while I was gone and he put it together for me. Chicks like it alot.
We went to Newcastle auction and Jack went too. None of us found anything. Jack almost got some very pretty splash marans. Mostly it was too hot to breathe. I can't wait for fall.

Thanks for posting, I will have to swing over one day and check out the new coop.
Sorry i didn't see the pics. That is a nice set up> I know you are proud of it.
Better tie it down or Jack will be towing it over to his place.

MJ - great looking coop. The price doesn't sound bad - particularly when it went together quickly and looks so elegant. Sometimes, there is something to be said for just "getting it done" What is the enclosure constructed from?

Monty - welcome home. I suspect it is just too hot to be chatty this weekend.

!!!!!!Twice now I have found a hawk feather under the tree nearest to my pens!!!!!!!

The fencing has tarp tops but the ends are open. Need to enclose them somehow. They were designed as dog pens.
The fencing is coated metal, about 1 1/2 " x 3" grid, but the bottom 2 feet of grid is 1 1/2" x 1 1/2.
We can't figure why dogs would need that but maybe the makers figured that they could be used for chickens too.
The grids are still too big for banty chicks, guess Jack will be hatching them for me not the hens.

Use self drilling screws with bits of plywood cut to fit. Plywood will also be a good base to staple tarps or plastic to.

Why stick to only one breed? That is like going to a candy store and only buying a Hershey bar rather than trying the other varieties of chocolate. You might decided after trying something else that you really prefer Hershey bars to other varieties of chocolate (my personal favorite) or you might decide that you like some other variety of candy.
