Sooner, the cinnamon rolls are unique and if we had more help, we could sell more than the 118 doz. we make. As it is, I just got home about 30 minutes ago and will wait until the morning before unloading the van. It feels good to sit down

I wish I could have joined Monty and Michael at Mary's swap meet this morning. I too enjoy watching Michael selling poultry.

He is so laid back about the whole negotiating thing - it would drive me nuts (since that would be a short drive LOL!)

Betsy - Sorry I didn't track you down at Chupps. I saw your silkies and showgirls, but I didn't see you. I talked with Joe for a bit, bought some banties and a couple mixed breed hens. The hens were in a birdcage, the type one keeps parakeets in, and it's going to look great after I sand, rustproof, and paint it. The Coral Blue guineas I got from you are nearly full-grown. The younger group of six usually runs away when I try to be friendly, but then they gang up on me and crowd me when I'm trying to give them new bedding or fresh water. The colored guineas seem almost tame, but the pearls are still too shy to pet.

Joe - Thanks for the banty tip. One of the little ladies has a runny nose, so they're all on meds for a week. None of the others have symptoms, but like you said, they're all exposed.

Danny - I wish I could have gone to Brushy for the recent auction. Joe said it was a good one.

well i come home with some bantam EE from joe and another person and then a lf EE form joe as well .... and a white guinea hen , along with 3.5 doz rir eggs, and 74 baby chicks lol

but work schedule has changed again so now i can go to the auction on saturdays when you are usually able to show up Coral , i can just about find something i just have to have at any auction lol

and im sure my feed bill is excited about the departure of the 13 roosters lol

I feel sure you're right about the Indian Ringneck. I looked it up, and it looks right, but a female, as I didn't see any ring. I really liked it. Vashi expressed relief that I didn't buy it!

Sorry I missed the others who were there, but didn't really stay a long time once we got the birds out and looked around at the others. My friend needed to get home to release and feed his chickens. We got there at 7:04, but were in line in the car for over an HOUR because they did several things differently--it was a mess. Then quite awhile more because they'd gotten the order of the lines (thee were ultimately five lines) all messed up and we were waaaay farther back than we should have been.

Okla, I have a friend who raises guinea hogs. She is the president of our guineafowl group, and now has several other kinds of animals. She really likes the gunea hogs. She's near Austin, Texas.

I've saved my best sale birds for Shawnee.

morning Okies. went to Newcastle auction last night. It was pretty good Bought some blue laced red wyndottes, and some amerucana's. Took alot of birds there. It was definatly not a good day for sellers but a wonderful day for buyers. Came How to yet another wonderful hatch. my inside brooders are getting quite full. I thought I was having a bad hatch since these guys were a little late came home to a bator full of peepers and fluffy butts. Hatched some Dark Cornish standards, Silkies, cochins, black austrlorps,Buckeyes, Plymouth barred rocks and plymouth white rocks, some bantam cochins, and a few sex links, red and black. Next lock down is monday morning then again on the eleventh. Shees I bet I got 200 chicks. I havent lost one chick to the weather in my outside brooder. I did add an electric heater.
So yea I am truly addicted to hatchingI will make these bators hum all winter long. then in spring I will haul them all tothe sale close to point of lay All I see is dollar signs cha-ching. Hope everyone is having a good morning its chore time burrrr. ttyl

donnie - I think you have "chicken math" all figured out. You get to subtract the birds you sell from your feed bill, while totally ignoring the new birds you have acquired.

MMpoultry - congratulations on the successful hatch. Sounds like you will have lots of birds to care for this winter and hopefully, most will be pullets so they bring a good price next spring.

Robin - I have to admit that I like the fall time change - I get to be lazy for an extra hour on the Sunday morning the time changes.

That is a fine looking coop. With something like that in a backyard, neighbors wouldn't have anything to complain about if a person were raising chickens in their backyard urban neighborhood.

Good morning everyone.
Just wanted to say hi before heading off to church in a bit.
Maribeth, I picked up a nice blue Ameraucana rooster from Michael yesterday.
I needed another rooster ya know since I have so few hanging out here.
