I hadn't thought about an eye patch for the injured cockerel. He doesn't even want my hand up near his head, so I think trying to cover one eye with anything that stays there would make him crazy. He has been at the feeder all by himself three times today that I've witnessed. His water is only half full, but I haven't seen him drinking, so I'm going to prompt him before bedtime. I hope he's drinking and I've just missed seeing it.
Yes, he did get a nasty thump on the head. He and another cockerel got into it, and the fight started on top of the coop. The white Chantecler took a beak in the head and then took a tumble off the coop. He landed hard. His symptoms mirror those of brain-injured Silkies. He is improving, very slowly, so I have hope that he will recover fully.
