Good morning everyone~ Are we ready for another day??

After your post yesterday step on lacing, I wonder if it is the same on barring?

I wonder why you scrafice one or the other no matter what breed pair you pick.

Rain woke me. Odd, since it usually helps me sleep. I hope it stops soon. I'd like to go feed and water without wearing rain gear. The guineas don't like flapping plastic, and neither do I.

Rain means I'm going to have to convince DH to ride with me inside the Matrix with some chickens. He gets all stuffed up and irritable when he smells chickens. Unless the drizzle quits completely, I'm not putting them in the back of the truck. I'm taking replacement hens to the wonderful lady who has the litter of great Pyrenees. She lost four hens to the heat last summer, so I'm thinking a big production red, a blue Ameraucanas, and a couple of Speckled Sussex will be a nice late Christmas, early New Year's present.

Still looking at names for the new puppy. Camilla now has two stars, as I've found a reference other than Gonzo's girlfriend. Camilla is the feminine form of CAMILLUS. She was the legendary warrior maiden of the Volsci, as told by Virgil in the 'Aeneid'. Ursula, which means little bear, is near the top of the list as well.

I have to say that will be the next dog that I get, I have two now that aren't good for anything other than noise makers & if loose will kill my chickens. I guess I should look outside, I didn't even know it was raining. Suppose to go to Lowes this morning.

I have another Light Brahma hen that looks to be a cross between a light and dark should I use Her to wok on rooster colorization? will try to get pictures!

We love our GP, although she does tend to be a nocturnal barker. Fortunately, our neighbors don't complain since she barks at fire trucks, trains that are 2 miles away, as well as passing dogs, possums and skunks. Ours tends to wander if she gets out of the chicken yard, so she is confined to what she thinks is a hot wired fence, but she sleeps in the chicken coop and has a wonderful personality. I like dogs that are not trying to get in your face at every opportunity, but stand quietly by your side instead.

I vote for Camilla - it has a gentle sound, but a deceptively strong meaning. And young GPs definately resemble little polar bears.

The light hens with a great deal of color in thier backs will produce well colored males when breed to a light brahma male. This is true for all columbian pattern poultry. When you breed for the color of the male you will get very dirty hens.

Good morning Okies!!!
